Thus far Hamas have agreed in principle to release the hostages in exchange for a ceasefire and ongoing talks about all other points.

But meanwhile, despite Trump "ordering" Israel to stop the bombing of Gaza.......

From my understanding of the IDF thinking, they don't want to cease fire until a tangible outcome is achieved.

hamas have only agreed to parts of it, at this stage

For the record I DON'T.
I reckon when he comes back he will change and @Bandwagon will be on top of my shit list. Hang on you can’t be on top, there’s that f**kwit from the Dragons forum who is dead to me and I never respond to his posts. It kills him and I f**king love it. ‘Srpski Inat’ can do that to many people.

That I do remember. My mate has a property in Kalkite and I’ve stayed there plenty of times. Remember not to drive down that hill at dusk, I don’t want you hitting a roo.

The one thing I have learnt over the 40 years I have been driving down that hill is to not drive at dawn or dusk.
I hit a roo once doing that. The stupid f**ker jumped straight in front of me while sitting on the side of the road. Never again.
I'm more worried about echidna's and wombats. They seriously need to be protected. But also, roo's as well. They do damage.

They aren't the brightest, that's for sure.
Hence why they need to be treated with caution.
I really don't drive up or down that hill at more than 40 - 60 km/h at almost all times of day, even though the speed limit is 80.
The other advantage of doing that is the scenery is spectacular, and I am forever staring at it.

Egypt built a wall to keep them out.

Did you actually read that article? At no point is it claimed or speculated they building there to keep them out of Egypt, they have cleared a rather large parcel of land and appear to be building walls around at least part of it.

You don't build a wall around a site to seal a border, you build a wall on the border.

This article states it's a compound to house Palestinians should the Israelis push them into the Sinai.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024...building-gaza-buffer-zone-as-rafah-push-looms

There is already a pretty substantial fence in place, which includes a buffer zone, and has been for some time

This has nothing to do with Egypt keeping Palestinians out BUT.....
Mexicans aren't running for their lives or at war. They are just sneaking in the back-door. Along with a lot of the drug supply.

The Palestinians have tunnels under the border and into the Sinai, they've been used for smuggling for decades.

If anyone takes them they are basically forced to. Right or wrong nobody really wants them.

Yeah, so from Netanyahu's point of view it's take it or leave it, but that's not how you do an actual peace deal is it.

So if one were a little skeptical, one might believe it more an intentional fail rather than an actual

Yes, and Trump's. They feel they have leverage over hamas. I thought they threw them a big enough bone with amnesty.

One thing is for certain, they can't have any power in gaza post war.

I was sceptical from the start. Highly doubt bibi will just withdraw, but if he gets hostages back on oct 7th, it's a massive pr win for him.

Second will do, as long as it's not sloppy.

What on earth makes you believe I'm not calm?

I'm willing to hear a rational argument as to why anything I've posited here is wrong. That's how shit works, you wanna hit me with some facts, go for it mate, I am all ears. You wanna argue feels, talk to a therapist.

Well thus far when it comes to this particular subject, I am the only one here to have supported what I've said with evidence from sources, if you can provide a source beyond " I once watched a you tubes video" as evidence I'm more than happy to see it.

You want I should try to lose a couple? Would that make you happier?
Sorry brother but I am going to ignore you. I might unignore when the 2026 season starts up.
Edit: Why can't I put you on ignore. Is this one of the powers a mod has?

What good is amnesty without a path to something better than there was? These people are well ready to die for their cause, right or wrong, they will want more than that.

Yes and no, for mine he's always used the hostages as a reason for what he's doing, I think a lot of the Israelis that have been protesting the way the war is going understand that, as do the families of the hostages, sure they will be grateful for their return, but Netanyahu loses a reason for war, and there are folks in his cabinet that will not be satisfied so easily, himself included.

Do a little maintenance on my property before my next tenant moves in later this week. I might even go for a drive up to the turning circle at Charlotte Pass and see how much snow is still on the main range.
It's $19 for me to enter the National Park, but worth every cent for incredible views.
You should fork out for the annual national park membership, covering entrance fees - just factor the cost onto the rent for the next tenant. You're welcome.
