I don't see any point in Mitch playing at 6 if Chin boy is at 7. Mitch wont get his hands on the ball enough and his strength is his kicking game and last time he played at 6 with Chin Boy at 7, he did all the kicking and Mitch didn't really get to do much and I'd prefer Mitch's kicking game over Cleary's.

I think Mitch plays 7 or doesn't play at all.

Gould probably isn't the go to on building a side and contracts. Fairly sure he was paying for REG when he came to us plus a few other players.
At the Dogs he has players retiring to get them off the cap.

The riff have basically changed their first grade side bar a handful of merkins since the 2020 GF so it is possible to continue to turn over players and win. What they do with the old players will be the test and if their young kids will be ready in 2-3 years.

Rooster's probably would have been in a better position on the ladder if they had their halfback for most of the season.
Storm somehow continue to turn out players.
Storm continue to buy players when their sombrero already appears full, much like the Roosters and Broncos. Penrith had a bunch of no names they turned into names and continue to buy no names, cheapies/promote juniors to fill their gaps thus keeping within the cap. However the first 3 teams always seem to have talent that exceeds the cap, but nothing to see there!

Storm have developed 90-95% of there squad.

The only 2 players they have bought from other clubs that had played rep footy in there GF side were Xavier Coates & Stefano.

If anything they have bought guys cheap originally like Paps, Hughes, Katoa, Blore & Meaney who were on the scrapheap and turned them into better players and in Jahrome's case a world class halfback.

Guys like Munster, Grant were picked up as kids by the storm.

I don’t think scrap heap is the right terminology for Katoa, Blore & Meaney given they were playing regular NRL up to signing with Scums and were all relatively young.
Although that’s then interesting that the 2 definite scrap heap signings of that group are the most accomplished of them to date.
Although also Hughes only got to where he is after Bellamy also scrapped him from fullback

I reckon a few blokes who have played for NSW have got a origin jersey based on one game.

A current backrower who used to play Centre at Cronulla springs to mind.

He was a pretty amazing resurrection. By the age of 23 he was a slow fullback/five-eighth who had only played six NRL games for three different clubs. He played fullback against us in 2017. Here's him scoring a try and watching a few get scored:

He was a monster that year, not just for one game. He averaged 176m and proved his utility value as an outside back. He even defended adequately at centre.

Moses was a slow burn but Rogers is correct Moses at his best is just as good & dangerous on his day as Cleary who is more methodical and rigid around a game plan & roster Ivan has built.

Both have there own strengths & weaknesses. We just haven't seen Moses in big enough club games since he has reached his elite level to judge him more on the now then the past.

I think it also depends on the style of play you want to go with.

If you pick Dylan Edwards at FB then you want to go with the style that suits Cleary better.

But picking Reece Walsh at FB i think having someone like Moses at 7 who plays off the cuff a lot faster and has more explosiveness in his game is better suited to Walsh with short side plays and throwing more risks at the opposition would actually be better suited.

My gut feel is that Lomax has played his last game for us. I don’t believe in the sudden injury that has ruled him out of the tour.

I expect that Simonsson will now stay and we will probably buy an outside back to bridge the gap.
Looks like that will be the result, really need to make sure any signing is close to elite, we don’t appear to have the outside backs coming through currently , can’t continue to waste Moses and the spine we are building.

No more journeymen signing, need rep player level signings to ensure progress. That’s what big clubs with progressive recruitment people and good identification seem to do.

As it stands if Lomax goes we've lost 2 of our highest quality players. Dylan had no impact this year but he'll bounce back. I think he will get back to that 2022/2023 form.
I'm sure we will have money but who is available might be an issue. If Lomax goes we need 3 high quality players to be a threat.
No quality replacements and I wouldnt suprise to see bottom 6 ( If Lomax goes )
