Perhaps.

The fact that a lot of science is funded by pharmaceutical companies makes me question whether they can be impartial when it comes to communicating risk of disease, illness etc and the efficacy and/or necessity of new drugs.

I’m not going full cooker and saying all scientists are sellouts and big Pharma rules the world, but I do think it is a legitimate factor to consider.

Look there is no doubt Big Pharma does dodgy shit, I mean they've been caught doing dodgy shit so often it's irrefutable, but a lot of research also gets done outside of pharmaceutical companies, and inevitably if research or a study isn't repeatable it's called out as bullshit.

There are plenty of checks and balances in the system, inevitably poor science gets called out for being poor science, particularly in the area of human health. Again sure, it's not perfect, but it's a hell of lot more reliable than some random merkin on Facebook or twitter with no real f**king understanding of science pushing "scamdemic" theory.

First it was 1 shot for life with tbis new super Mrna technology. Then it was 2.....
Then it was boosters every 6mths for variants.
Now its an annual thing......

The story just kept changing and thats when it started to smell like shit and I dont trust someone whis story keeps changing.
Imagine I sold you a product and this happened ffs. You'd think im dodgie
An oldie but a goodie ...

I'd suggest it was a rushed product that just wasn't as effective as they thought and MAYBE not even needed.

The initial vaccines were proven to be very effective against the original strains of the virus, the reality is the virus mutated faster than we can hope to tweak the vaccines. That's why they keep coming up with boosters against new variants. The whole hope placed on the MRNA tech is / was that development time could be significantly shortened.

Here's a very boring list on that subject.....

On the "rushed" part, yeah undoubtedly, but what are you gonna do?

The whole idea of a corona virus crossing over from animal to human meaning we have zero previous exposure to it, and merkins start dying, I'd say hey fellas, just take your time, slow and steady wins the race just wasn't seen as an option.

That they produced vaccines that were effective in the space of time they did is a f**king huge achievement of collaboration from scientists across the planet, working incredibly hard towards a common goal. People f**king died working on this shit, literally gave up their life knowing the risks.

This is about when I was thinking. These merkins seem to be making it up on the run.

What kind of science would you prefer science folk do.

One where a finding is made, it is rigid, stubbornly adhered to, and no allowance made for new information.

Or, one that works on what we know, and as new information is introduced, findings are either confirmed, changed or adapted.

What's f**ked about all this is how it's fed into a lack of trust, or trust being misplaced. There is now an anti-vaxxer cooker f**king lawyer with zero qualifications in health care, who had an actual brain worm in his brain, in charge of the US's health system, and there are merkins going yay!

You can chose to trust who you like. That's always optional. It wasnt the cooker youtube videos that put me off because I don't watch them.It was the medical experts/salesmen that I kinda believed at the start. As their story kept changing it sounded like either a con job or they didn't know wtf they where on about. Personally I feel like you'd have to be naive/fool not to be atleast sceptical at this point.

I have always been sceptical and have a healthy dose of cynicism but still believe that facts are facts. The types of people who spin conspiracy theory shit don't realise the irony in what they are doing. They believe that everyone is else is naive and being conned despite themselves being in the very same boat.

As for RFK, he is an embarrassment.

For those wondering why Trump continues to make headlines about any issues other than being a good domestic President, it's because he is now 8 days into the US financial year and hasn't managed to get his budget bills through congress yet.

This is known as a the government shutdown, and embarrassingly, after 6 attempts at votes the Democrat (opposition) budget bill is closer to getting the majority of 60 votes needed than his (government) Republican budget bill is.

On the last vote (6 October) the Democrat bill has 55 votes, Trump bill had 52. So negotiations continue... Big powerful leader no so big and powerful any more, and the "art of the deal" doesn't look to be heading President Trump's way...?

Probably the best link to get a picture of the whole thing is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_United_States_federal_government_shutdown, which then links to primary sources for all points explained.

If you like Greta and/or dislike Rubin it gets dismissed.

If you like Rubin and/or dislike Greta then you'll love it.

I dislike both and am a bit confused about what my reaction should be other than indifference.

This is the 12th time it has happened since 1980. Happened in Trump's last term and the shutdown lasted 35 days (longest so far). Government was shutdown for 21 and 16 days for Clinton and Obama respectively.

I'm all for checks and balances, particularly for someone like Trump. But whatever model they have at the moment seems horribly inefficient and prone to a bit of f**kery.
