My Eels friends and I loathed Kusto (actually more Smith for picking him) because we had a great reserve grade half either Casey McGuire or one of the Witts we could not believe was not getting picked ahead of him. Smith did love to have a tard or two in his teams (eg Herron, Penna).
I remember Kusto had good size and speed for a half, and his defence was solid. It’s an underrated trait for halves, especially backups.

Surprised no one has jumped onto the fact the shooter from this week has been posted everywhere in his Dogs jersey in the media.

It’s obviously no fault of the Dogs but I still enjoy seeing the Dogs being tied to anything haha

It was on the TV in the lunch room. I turned to my two work colleagues who are Dogs fans and had a good laugh.

As it stands if Lomax goes we've lost 2 of our highest quality players. Dylan had no impact this year but he'll bounce back. I think he will get back to that 2022/2023 form.
I'm sure we will have money but who is available might be an issue. If Lomax goes we need 3 high quality players to be a threat.
No quality replacements and I wouldnt suprise to see bottom 6 ( If Lomax goes )
Stonestreet from Cronulla would be the player I'd go for as unable to get a run in front of their 2 current wingers. But doubt Cronulla would release him.

he just signed a new deal with the sharks, obviously a local boy who's happy to be a back up and doesn't want to leave the area, I'd much prefer our players to have a bit of drive and ambition...

Incredible to think Melbourne have managed just 1 premiership in the past 8 years.

Considering they have a 73% winning record in that period.

3 of those years they have won 20+ games and still not won it.

Those things are probably true but I just saw him as a clutz and in the road of McGuire/Witt.
I remember it was a commonly held and valid opinion at the time.

of course, those very things would have endeared him greatly to the young and emerging Poucifer

Well the great Jack Gibson used to say that he noticed he coached better when he had better players.
They were favourites in both grand finals they lost without Cameron Smith in 2024 and 2025. They also lost as favourites against the Sharks in 2016 and Roosters in 2018.
