I missed first 20 but I’m not sold on this 5-4-1 lineup. We seem to be covering any long movements but I reckon short passing would destroy us. That said, the players available, I’m not sure what you go with. We’re lacking distinct outside players
We started with our first choice wingbacks on the bench.

Leeds United! Same colours, and record of underachievement.

* Except it looks like they stick to a white jersey with minimal yellow now...
I was thinking Leeds was the Parra equivalent based on uniform etc back when Harry Kewell was 19,20,21 and killing it with them. That is probably the last time I actually supported an EPL team.

I did not know this game was on. Where were people watching it?
Good to see Irankunda scoring again. Hate those jerseys.

Any chance Irankunda will be the next Harry Kewell (like a star/goal scorer in the EPL or another big-time league)?
That is what I need to get more interested in soccer.

I think it was Paramount +, so not on free-to-air.

So I couldn't watch along with 85b - but could feel their pain through the comments.
The section I watched in first half was bad Socceroos where no one works off the ball and we struggle to put 2 passes together. 2nd half was better Socceroos but still far too many times where we allowed Canada between us and teammate with ball.

Canada to be fair have improved

Football here has gone down the gurgler. Since all the old Mediterranean Descendants got pushed out of coaching and running the game. A league was supposed to unearth heaps of stars. It's done the opposite. Progressively gotten worse. It peaked 10yrs ago.

He is first choice in a mid tier Championship side, but is still a teenager. It's not out of the question that he could become an EPL regular scoring 10+ goals every year.

The A-League has provided opportunities for plenty of youngsters to move on to bigger leagues in Europe and the US. There is no reason for the good ones to stay in the A-League, because there isn't enough money here.

To late. Need the old Mediterranean Descendants showing them from age 5 c.
By time get A league to late. Technically ruined

Sure, but the A-League has nothing to do with that either way. It's just a place for kids to play if they're not good enough for Europe. But also, plenty of them are good enough for Europe, after they spend a couple of years in the A-League. From today's Socceroos side, none of them currently play in the A-League, but only 4 of the 17 (Boyle, Burgess, Circati, and Degenek) haven't played in the A-League previously, and Circati came through an A-League club's system.

Possibly they stay to long. And not talking about A league really but the fact the old schools Mediterranean Descendants are running things at junior level.
