I wonder whether using the Chiefs name makes it more likely or LESS likely that the team colors will be yellow/red/black? Especially given that the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs AND the Chiefs in Super Rugby wear uniforms that feature red & yellow.

Glad they went something different to Hunters. Hopefully they don’t just use Red, Black & Yellow, already have Kumuls, Hunters and Vipers using the national colour set, mix it up IMO.

I’ve seen them referred to as the “Papua New Guinea Chiefs” today as well. I thought that was just a digital design choice.

Well, I can only go by what I saw earlier today, but it was reported that the name is PNG Chiefs.

Happy to be corrected if/when it turns out to be Papua New Guinea Chiefs.

I think they’ll go with the PNG chiefs in written form as Papua New Guinea chiefs is a bit long.

i think they’ll be referred to as all of the “chiefs”, “PNG”, “PNG chiefs” and ”papua New Guinea chiefs“ in spoken words.

Why would you want a version of another clubs logo? Need to stand apart.

I put this in another thread a few minutes ago, but I'll repost it here too.

My thoughts are a simple 'C' in perhaps a shield shape, but decorated simply enough to be social media friendly, but unique enough to stand out. I don't have an opportunity to visually mockup what I'm talking about for the time being, but if I very a chance in the coming days I'll try to put something together. Kinda hard without a colour scheme, mind you..!

My reason is that in my searching around today, there's seemingly not one traditional style of clothing, face paint, headwear that all of PNG tribes go with. All seem to be their own individual styles. An attempt at doing one universal PNG tribal chief look has the potential to alienate many people who associate with one tribe or another.
