I have nothing against AFL in the same way I have nothing against netball, whatever makes people happy.
The vibe of AFL put me off, the tone that the commentary talks in is weird and I can't relate to it, they score constantly which kinda takes the edge off it when they do, the cut sleeves and cringe team songs, dudes wearing headbands, the sound of their sirens, the whistle every 2 seconds to acknowledge they didn't drop it, the people who talk about it pre and post game I find unrelatable, they don't seem like real people, the throw in looks lame, the bounce..uhh there's no real structure to it, just a whole bunch of random shit going on like a roulette wheel till finally it goes through the correct posts, the some does a weird thing with their hands..
I feel like I need a shower just talking about it.

Im happy for them to be doing well and enjoying what they enjoy but it's not for me.
When I first had a look at it there was so many people on the field I thought there had been a pitch invasion by the crowd. LOL.

AFL is fine. They aren't a threat to us and we aren't a threat to them. If anything both sides should work together more often.

Union on the other hand, needs to be put back in its place. Shit sport.
Afl spent 30 years trying to take over in nsw and qld

They are claiming qld as an afl state

They make other false claims like it’s “Australia’s” sport or it’s the number one sport

It’s fans are delusional mostly thinking the sport can do no wrong

Now it’s afl turn to be on the back foot and they just don’t know how to handle it

I expect the fumbles will ultimately end up being like soccer in this country, the sport parents let their kids play because it`s safe.
That`s a s far as it will go though, the real action will be the NRL, just like the NFL is in America.

Safe? You know how many x players have CTE. Have committed suicide etc because of it and others trying to put a class action against the AFL. Hardly ´safe.´

Soccer is safe.

With respect, I think all the evidence points to both AFL and ARU doing everything they can to destroy rugby league, especially in the last few decades. I don't recall either of those sports lending a helping hand when they decided to overtly poach some of our biggest stars, for instance, and then claim that they are going to dominate RL markets. I think we need to go for the jugular now that we are on a growth run, and PVL has the right kind of attitude to do that, compared to our previous law-qualified administrators...

At various times …they have both talked up expected dominance over RL… although it’s been 20 years since RU has ….

If they get the Broadcast deal done that delivers on NRL expectations …it .will leave them in a great position next 10 years

YES WE ALREADY KNOW BUT LETS RUB IT IN EVEN FURTHER LOL

Rugby league's showpiece event between the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos was watched by a national total TV average audience of 4.46 million people on Nine, the highest-ever for an NRL Grand Final.

The decider, which was won 26-22 by the Broncos after a Reece Walsh-inspired comeback, reached a total reach of 6.4 million people across the country, and drew in over 1 million more people than last year's decider, which had an audience of 3.36 million.

The match also became Australia's most-watched event of the year beating the AFL Grand Final, which was watched by an average of 4.18 million viewers the previous year.

Side note - anyone have any good comeback for those deluded people saying that the Supercars TV ratings are larger than the NRL GF? I mean aside from "learn the difference between average audience vs reach over the 2 days Supercars coverage"??
