Side note - anyone have any good comeback for those deluded people saying that the Supercars TV ratings are larger than the NRL GF? I mean aside from "learn the difference between average audience vs reach over the 2 days Supercars coverage"??
Did someone actually say this?

They did last year. A lot of American Sports YouTubers were invited.
Yeah I seen a few so called influences doing their thing. I also seen a lot of young yanks going off. We have the sport, we need the so called elites to set us free again. Problem is tho, every time a world war is about to start, they let Rugby League expand. It's like, let the mongrels (mungo) feed up, muscle an all, then meat grind all and remove all of your best Men (leaders) in a war or whatever. Don't believe the hype, all Rugby be it union or league, it's there to create WARRIORS.

I have nothing against AFL in the same way I have nothing against netball, whatever makes people happy.
The vibe of AFL put me off, the tone that the commentary talks in is weird and I can't relate to it, they score constantly which kinda takes the edge off it when they do, the cut sleeves and cringe team songs, dudes wearing headbands, the sound of their sirens, the whistle every 2 seconds to acknowledge they didn't drop it, the people who talk about it pre and post game I find unrelatable, they don't seem like real people, the throw in looks lame, the bounce..uhh there's no real structure to it, just a whole bunch of random shit going on like a roulette wheel till finally it goes through the correct posts, the some does a weird thing with their hands..
I feel like I need a shower just talking about it.

Im happy for them to be doing well and enjoying what they enjoy but it's not for me.
I can't cop how much the sport rewards mediocrity.

- Point for missing a goal
- no ramifications for fumbling the ball
- free kick awarded for a mark and you don't even need to take the ball cleanly
- rigging of the comp to provide players for teams that would otherwise not produce or be able sign them
- rigging of the comp in terms of funding financial basket cases that would otherwise not stand on their own two feet

Pure shit show

It's a sports version of Communist dictatorship:
* All talent via a draft is distributed even with poorly performing clubs getting priority
* None of the growth is organic and it organize from a central planing distribution
* Well performing clubs receive less funding than poorly performing clubs
* All messaging and talking points about the game and it's progress a curated carefully to create an illusion that everything is perfect without any pushback on any governance.
* Those under the regime remain completely oblivious to the reality outside of the regime.

This is why AFL people don't understand how other sports could be doing well. They are as oblivious as the Chinese are..
They're certain the Gold Coast suns have successfully taken over QLD.

Sounds like Victoria under Dan Andrews and Jacinta Allen aka a Communist Government.

The Ch9 presentation of the game was shitful.

It was super obvious that Johns, Slater and Co where calling from a studio, and the local audio feed was really quiet, so you got none of the atmosphere from the game.

At one stage Johns, thought the game had re-started, when it was showing some replays.

Fox was no better.

The challenge for all international sports broadcasting is trying to attract eyeballs to an event that doesn't contain the home nation.

It's what killed One Day Cricket as a viable format in Australia eventually, for example.

Getting 464k to a game not involving Australia, in Australia, is a pretty good result.

Still a bit on the low side but it’s growing

Fox plus nz would see it over 800k or thereabouts
No beating around the bush those are piss poor ratings. If it was AFL or Union you'd be giving them sh#t for the bad numbers

With the poor attendance and ratings it goes to show how far international league still has to go to win over fans.

It's a shame because it was a great game.

Also a shame because if the Pacific Championships had rated well the NRL could have sold the rights separately to make a bit more $$$
