So why did you include clubs that have pokiesWe’re talking sports club generated revenue, not pokie dens.
If they are going to claim they are ‘on par with Collingwood’ and ‘among the top sports brands in australia‘ then it’s worth a 2 min fact check.
They aren’t on par with collingwood.
Collingwoods revenue last year was $87.5mill.
West coast last year had revenue of $92.6mill
carlton had $97.5mill fc revenue making them the biggest sports revenue generator in the country.
nrl clubs are a long way behind when it comes to revenue generation. Largely due to smalller crowds and smaller membership bases.
Apparently Carlton has pokies and I’m not sure of the other afl clubs? But why should Penrith Rugby leagues club be excluded because it generates income from other sources? We’re talking sports club generated revenue, not pokie dens.

Whose claim… the journalist ? RL journos say a ton of crap …
He also never said “on par with Collingwood “… that’s your interpretation…he said “sit alongside ” which is no lie …
They also used the line in the context of ..”most powerful brand “…not the most revenue
To be fair, he then went on to use revenue specifically - based on an article in the Telegraph earlier in the year on commercial revenues
I was just stating as a sports club Penrith Rugby leagues club and it’s controlled entities turn over $170m and must be one of the biggest clubs in Australia I obviously know it’s not all football department relatedCarlton, Brisbane are the big ones for AFL clubs. Richmond, Essendon to a lesser extent. The Saints might still have, and possibly the Power.
The only reason i might exclude the leagues clubs is the reporting, certain revenues are not reported separately by the leagues clubs. There are separate subsidary bodies with separate reports for the actual football club in rugby league - the leagues club is usually, but not always the parent in many cases. AFL clubs its all rolled into one entity.
But I generally dont compare them separately unless specific data is released that matches
I thought I’d picked out the ones who were just showing fc revenue, one wasn’t, my bad.So why did you include clubs that have pokies
Let’s include news ltds revenue in broncos then lolI was just stating as a sports club Penrith Rugby leagues club and it’s controlled entities turn over $170m and must be one of the biggest clubs in Australia I obviously know it’s not all football department related
Are you going to include hull kr not football income when assessing their financials ?Let’s include news ltds revenue in broncos then lol
when talking about a sports clubs financial clout it’s really only worth comparing fc generated revenue. Ownership revenue by pokie dens, private owners etc is irrelevant to how much mOney the sports clubs is able to generate, thus showing an indication of its popularity and brand strength to coprorates. just because panthers LC can entice lots of gambling addicts in is no reflection on the popularity or brand strength of the penrith panthers nrl club.
No its not and yes we should, hopefully govt’s are moving that way In same way tobacco was banned. Many countries already have,Are you going to include hull kr not football income when assessing their financials ?
And are we banning betfred from sponsoring super league or is that type of gambling ok ?
The Entity is actually Penrith Rugby leagues club, it’s in the name, lots of Penrith fans go to the club to watch games , consume food and drinks. Those items are included in fc revenue at the stadium, they also have a hotel that travelling fans from the country can stay atLet’s include news ltds revenue in broncos then lol

Of the panthers group 170mill revenue less than 25% comes from running the nrl club. The Entity is actually Penrith Rugby leagues club, it’s in the name, lots of Penrith fans go to the club to watch games , consume food and drinks. And only 38% comes from gaming. How much comes from being associated with the NRL club ie. game day revenue from patrons watching at the club or attending after the game. How much of the catering, beverage and function lines are game day revenue for corporate boxes or food and drinks at the stadiumOf the panthers group 170mill revenue less than 25% comes from running the nrl club.
They own hotels and other business too not just running pokie densOf the panthers group 170mill revenue less than 25% comes from running the nrl club.

I'm not aware of the AFL situation. Do their big clubs have assets even if they don't run leagues-style clubs? I would assume they do otherwise where are they spending all their money? They own hotels and other business too not just running pokie dens
When comparing clubs from different codes all these revenues should be included
Rugby league clubs sit on assets worth billions which generate hundreds of millions of revenues. Other sports would love to be in the same boat
Indeed parra leagues actually has invested tens of millions in rugby union and soccer clubs previously
Afl clubs had to push crowds and memberships because they didn’t have access to property / gaming revenue like league clubs have and indeed tried to catch up by investing in their own such assets
