Clubs are free to sign these players if they want to come back. They just won't be eligible for competition points if they pick these merkins in first grade. Something like that.

When a court is sentencing "deterrent" is a big part of their thinking. The NRL don't really have to deter what Mam did because the court criminal system does that and it is rare. This other needs to the Deeeteeeerd hard by the NRL because it is worse for the game.
If there was 20 such horrific driving incidents each off season and the culprits where not already getting punished by the court and it was threatening the whole product then maybe they would be much more severe.

If the NRL can rely on court system as deterrent, then why did they give any suspension to Mam?
Because it’s the same brand damage reasoning as stopping players joining R360. In that case, the NRL have calculated the potential of a significant chunk of player base leaving as worth 10 years of brand damage compared to Mam’s offence as only 9 games worth of damage.
It’s not feasible to reconcile the 2 calculations but I’m also finding it difficult to reconcile the punishments. Drug cheats getting 4 year suspension is probably the best comparison.
It’s an all bluster, Trump move I think. If enough players leave to warrant there being 10 years worth of damage done, then the NRL is already in trouble and actually would be begging those players to come back anyway. Whereas if it’s only a couple of players, it’s just a vindictive punishment because it’s not 10 years worth of damage done.

With respect to the issue of R360 - I just don't see who is going to watch it? I guarantee Australians will not watch it. You just cannot create club teams out of thin air that people care about from thin air.

If you are as outraged about this "rumour" as I am, then the only move you should make is to directly contact the NRL and insist they get hit with the 10 year ban immediately.
Early action on these 2 will stop other players considering similar courses of action.

Of course it will be catastrophic for our club to lose 2 valuable roster players, but, upwards and onwards, and we'll have to do the best we can to fill the spots with other players....

Rumours that Raiders are chasing Pezet hard as well.

Basically means Ricky must have sold Sanders a Gus Gould like lemon .

12 months down there and he hasn't even been given a go yet there chasing Pezet.

Even if we did land Pezet it shows me Ricky has no faith Ethan Sanders if that's the case.
