On the surface this rumour doesn't make sense. What do we gain from having him for one year? Then I thought about it.
What if the benefit is we have another target lined up for 2027? Maybe a deal is being struck behind the scenes?

Its the only explanation I can come up with this idiotic deal.

It definitely could be Talataina we are thinking of. Signing Pezet for a year might just be about improving our team in the short term with available cap space.

The only two possible options for justifying it (and I’m not suggesting it does) is that

A) He’s made his mind up Joash isn’t a good enough option at 6.
B) We have the long term solution sitting in cup and they just need another 12months or so and this means we don't waste a year with a below par option to get the most out of the squad.
C) We have agreed to terms on a big name signing for 27 and this fills the gap.

There is zero upside to this for us unless we win the comp in 26, that’s it.

How about just winning more games in 2026 than we would have won without him? If we make the finals that’s more experience for 16 other players. Who cares if the Broncos benefit as well?

I don't see the problem. Hes available for a year so why not.

Moses will inevitably go down injured at some point, and probably get picked for origin, so we got a very good backup in pezet.

If it's the case of missing out on finals due to a couple of losses with Moses out, then I think it's a great idea.

I just don’t like us looking like a stepping stone destination for a player. Putting the shoe on

I sort of hate it, but in reality chances are he isnt going to be a super star. At best he will probably be a average/good half. Somewhere between Metcalf and that putz who plays for Cronulla.
We must have looked at other options for next year and decided he is the best option for next year and lets then see what we can get for the following season.
