This is the problem with sports fans in general. You’d rather not benefit from a player for a year if it meant another club didn’t also benefit. There’s no win-win with you people. You think we’d go better with Papalii at 6 next year, or you just don’t f**king care.

How is it win-win though Pou?? we are getting a non-proven halfback to play 5/8 for one season. I honestly don't think its a sure thing that Pezet does make us any better, I still don't see how he compliments Moses whatsoever.

If we had of finished 5th or 6th this year and were just off the top teams and Ryles went and brought in an old head who was a proven winner who he thought could help us knock off a comp in one season then I completely understand the mindset. Like what the Roosters are doing with DCE (even though I don't agree with that call). All we are doing is getting another young guy to replace another young guy and helping him develop into a first grader for Brisbane.

We arguably would have probably won more games this season if we had of kept Gutho/RCG/Carty/Matto in our team this year BUT Ryles did the best thing for the team moving forward by f**king them off and he was 100% right in doing so. This to me is just a backwards step in so many ways.

How do you think the players are going to feel with this dude rocking up knowing he is going to the Broncos in 12 months time? it hardly sets standards or helps to breed long term culture. How often do you see teams struggle after a key player has signed to move clubs over 12 months out? there is a reason why so many are given early releases in these situations and that's when they are already in their system.

I actually think you make a lot of sense SOMETIMES but I think you seriously will do anything to defend every decision the club makes, is ridiculous bro.

If we win the comp with him next season I will happily eat my words and build a dedicated shrine to him in my household.... anything but though and this exercise will have been a complete waste of time.

ding ding ding, we have a winner.

Bloke will rock up late Nov/early Dec for pre-season when all our boys not part of the internationals will already having been slogging it out in the heat for 4-5 weeks and what, be welcomed with open arms knowing he has ALREADY signed for his next team which he'll be at in under 12 months.

F**ked if i'd be bothered getting to know the bloke or going out of my way to make him feel welcome.

If you follow Joash on Instagram he is still training now at the Eels Training facility posted a video today at 7ish.

I sort of hate it, but in reality chances are he isnt going to be a super star. At best he will probably be a average/good half. Somewhere between Metcalf and that putz who plays for Cronulla.
We must have looked at other options for next year and decided he is the best option for next year and lets then see what we can get for the following season.
Are you suggesting a professional sporting organisation might have made a rational decision? If they were run by fans (and Tommy Raudonikis) they would win the comp every year ffs!!!

Seems very likely that Pezet is just a stop gap for next year until Talataina is given the role in 2027. I don’t like the optics of this deal at all though. It just shows that we’re willing to be a players backup plan until they move onto their preferred destination. It’s rather humiliating.
He can be the main man at Brisbane. He can't at Parra until Moses is gone.

I may be on my own with this one but I think Joash is worth persisting with. Playing his first season in a team that had been cleaned out from the coach down isn't the ideal start to an NRL career. All things considered surrounding 2025 I think he did OK.

28 is the earliest we’re challenging and that’s based on 3 years of developing our spine together.
By the start of 2027 we will have three spine players with two years together. Plus 18 months with TDS in the side. The Broncos just won with a brand new 6, and a cast of thousands at dummy half.

What makes this even worse just listening to Michael Carryannis on SEN now and apparently we actually wanted to sign Pezet on a long term deal but he has chosen to go to Brisbane instead.

Yet we are still happy to just take him for one season until he gets to his preferred destination.

How embarrassing is that…
It's like wanting to fly to the USA but having to endure a layover in NZ.

In a word “VERY”, not surprised the recruitment team did something like that, Ryles must have agreed to it and a specific role I guess. Strange when he preaches the need for players to want to be at the club.

Even if it is number 2, why waste the 12 months and whatever dollars on Pezet? Give Iongi or likewise a bump for 2026 in the hope that encourages them to stick with club.

It’d be an odd move for us and Pezet. We don’t really gain anyway value and Pezet will be in firing line all season.

The only possible reason for me doing it, and it’s not a good one because it only plays on hope and dreams, is the aim is to use 2026 to convince Pezet to pull out of Broncos deal and stick with us
What's wrong with just increasing our win rate for 2026? I watch games hoping we'll win on the day ffs, not to convince myself we're stuck in a long term plan.
