Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Long term plans leave a much bigger window for getting punched, so they are less reliable.Your a man with a short term plan.

But we have seen very little of Pezet. Surely Ryles would know whether he can play 6 or not? And he will almost certainly have to fill in at 7 for some part of the season, anyway? If Brisbane are that dumb to offer that much for a player who is essentially a rookie then good luck to them. Jeez I think the hype around Pezet seems to be excessive for someone who has only played a couple of handy games in probably the best system in the NRL.
I have another huge problem with this signing. Everyone (except Pou probably) will admit that Pezet plays more like a traditional 7 than a 6. Presumably next year he will still wear the 6 next season but play a lot of first receiver and mix things up with Moses.
I know Moses is a professional and he will do whatever is best for the team, but we are going to ask arguably the second best 7 in the game to change his role for 12 months to suit Pezets inclusion, then go back to being a dominant 7 the following season? Is that not potentially counter-productive for Moses's own development?
If we wanted a stop-gap I think it would have been better to find a player with similar qualities to Lorenzo (assuming he is the one they are banking on for 2027) and have the team start playing footy to suit in 2026.

Even the best teams lose sometimes. The Broncos lost to the lowly Eels a few months ago. You can't be up every week, like I keep telling you. Especially at your age.
One of your many logical fallacies designed to troll fans.Do they need to be infallible to make good decisions? Or even better decisions than you or me?
Whether it's a good decision comes down to value, which is decided by how much he will get paid. Do you know that amount? Because the club does.
Again, they don't need to have more information about everything to be better informed. They just need to know more than you and me, which they do. They have 100% of the contract info, as well as knowledge on availability of other players, and the NRL's rules about per-year contract variations.
If you're going to have an opinion about the club's decisions, you can't hold them to a higher standard than you hold yourself. They mightn't be as good as the management at some other clubs, and they certainly don't know everything, but they are far ahead of the fans in both those areas.
C'mon, you can do better....Harry Grant? You dont get to comment on this total clusterfkuck. Its way too raw
Even TCT are upset!
How long would you want him for? 6 weeks or longer?I’d watch myself - there’s one particular 5/8 with player options for 2027 onwards who might be of interest to Parra post-Pezet …
Well no i don't blame him and competing with Brisbane is impossible really on a TPA level for most Sydney clubs. Can you really blame him for choosing them over us? I certainly can’t. He’s set up for a great life — living in Brisbane, a club that’s finally back where it belongs. On top of that, Reynolds will probably move straight into the coaching staff once he hangs up the boots, meaning he can continue to mentor him and guide his development throughout his career.
In truth, I think Pezet being an out-and-out halfback was always going to be a sticking point for us. We already have, arguably, the second-best number seven in the competition — and he’s locked in for at least another four years. There just wasn’t a realistic pathway for him here.
I like your analysis and summary of the Pezet situation. It seems rational and is quite possible.1. Our five-eight options for 2026 are woeful.
2. We need a good player at 6 next year in order to continue the momentum and development of our fullback and both hookers.
3. We probably need a 6 who can also play well at 7, in case Moses gets injured or plays origin.
4. Are there any other 6"s on the market that would suit our current needs?
5. Jonah Pezet is NOT an unknown quantity. Our coach knows him very well. Ryles will know exactly what he will bring.
6. He won't block our junior halves pathways. In fact, with another year of first grade, our fullback and two young hookers will be in a much better position to accommodate a rookie 6 from our juniors if that needs to happen.
7. In my opinion, Papalii, Volkman and Hawkins are just reserve graders and fill-ins. We need something more substantial than that next year.
8. If we win more games next year and continue our development, we may be able to attract even better signings for 2027.
9. I'm disappointed we couldn't get Pezet for a longer deal (I think he will end up being a star) but one year will still suit our current needs admirably.
I like the signing (if true).
It means even with all the info in the world, they can still make a wrong decision.Do they need to be infallible to make good decisions? Or even better decisions than you or me?
I already made the proviso that if I were hiring him the risk would be reflected in what I offered him. But value isn’t what he is paid, it’s what he provides. And a player, who is largely untested, who already has a different path set from club and who in my scenario is being paid significantly less than his want, or even in the real world scenario, is a lot higher risk of not providing that value.Whether it's a good decision comes down to value, which is decided by how much he will get paid. Do you know that amount? Because the club does.
Just because a person has, or even worse you think they have, more information than you, doesn’t mean they are going to make better decisions. What it can lead to is decisions based on higher tolerance of risk. But that also means there’s a higher degree of an even worse outcome than deciding against doing something due to risk. And in this particular case the outlook of a better outcome for the risk seems very minimal - Pezet is unlikely to be the difference between us winning significantly more or not and the chance of future return (Pezet staying/returning beyond 2026 or a quid pro quo of picking up a different player) is just extending the determining period but just as unlikely.Again, they don't need to have more information about everything to be better informed.

Ancient history but if you still feel a little raw about it then I will not bring it up.How long would you want him for? 6 weeks or longer?
That's just PR spin/play to sell the idea to fans that it was always the plan and get in front of it when its officially announced.Chammas spoke with eels officials in the UK (including Ryles, Jimmy, MON) on a "study tour" apparently we didn't try to sign him on a long term deal.....they didn't want to block path of our juniors...
Think Ryles has big plans for Lorenzo Talataina and another year in Cup will do him wonders hopefully and further hone his skills. Plus would assume Pezet's one year deal would come at a reduced cost. Hopefully Pezet will push us into top 4 next year and with the plethora of young forwards coming thru to make a genuine push for big prize in 2027.Feels weird no one in here is talking about this… DT saying Pezet will be at the Eels in 2026 and Broncos 27 and beyond in a deal the first of its kind.
Only first reaction from me but I don’t like it. So it helps us for 2026 then back to the drawing board for 27? To me it feels like we are just giving away a yes as it’s not like we’ll challenge for a premiership. And I’m even if we do well, he’s gone in 27.
Assuming the master plan revolves around our #6 options in house?
Does that tick the box and keep most happy? Keen to hear thoughts of a few here if this does unfold as such. @Stagger eel @hindy111 @Avenger @Poupou Escobar @Soren Lorenson @King-Gutho94 @Eelementary …

Edit: Re reading my own email I think I love it. Ryles is a mastermind if this comes off. And only assuming we have a phenomenal #6 NRL player coming through.
I sense you're missing the hair? This deal is a cucks fantasy.
it’s like having a 12 month engagement. You get to hold hands, pay for all the dates and pay for her car when it shits itself. If you are real good you might even get a kiss on the cheek and blue balls.
But once those 12 months are up she runs off and f**ks the rich good looking merkin with a glorious head of hair.
It’s the only thing that would make sensePlus would assume Pezet's one year deal would come at a reduced cost.
the rich good looking merkin with a glorious merkin of hair.
Ryles would have signed off on this, f**k he probably even suggested we sign Pezet for 1 year. He has a plan and we don't know what it is but Ryles knows more than us, and he did well in his first year, cleaning out the deadwood in the club and setting us up long term. I trust Ryles and his judgement, and of course he'll never get everything right, but give him a chance before criticising him with this decision!Mate, I think most would agree that since BA's departure the club has made the right moves when it comes to most calls. On this one, I think (like almost everyone else on here) that it's a bad call going forward, if true. This is the wrong gun for hire, imo. I would have expected better options than this one.
Yep, that’s the dynamic duo spinning BS.That's just PR spin/play to sell the idea to fans that it was always the plan and get in front of it when its officially announced.
If we really rated our junior halves coming through what was all the fuss about chasing Galvin so hard earlier in the year for.
We had a decent long term deal on the table for Pezet and he chose Brisbane.
