Maybe the skip helps him get between defenders and avoid being driven back. He’s not a big bloke. He’s not going to overpower a middle defender who gets in front of him.
No he skips a long way back from the defenders and loses a couple of meters because of it. Been watching him do it for years. Its just a habit as is running sideways. He isnt a small bloke either at 6'2 98kgs.

Don't worry about public statements by NRL people, pay attention to what they do. Ryles picked Papalii at five-eighth a grand total of four times. He picked Drown there 15 times, including 14 times after he announced he was joining the Knights. Do Ryles' actions align with his words?

Yes but as Ryles even said he picked Joash looking at 26 as we are out of the finals race (hence why Dylbro played 15 games) and would have picked Joash in round 26 if he wasn't injured.

Simmo should get lomax’s spot if he gets his attitude right and is injury free. He played some decent footy on the wing prior to injuries, making good metres. Isnt the sharpest tool in the shed, just simplify his game and tell him to run for 200m+ each week.
Russel formed a decent combo with the fox and improved last year. Still only young so hopefully improves physically over the off season.
Penisini and the fox will get the other 2 spots. Kelly as backup and Samrani as a utility cover. Richie Penisini was nowhere near first grade level last year, would need a big offseason to change that.
I do think simmo is actually a solid player only problem is he never seems to be healthy. Maybe this is the season he stays healthy but i thought he already had hammie issues

I will be worried if MON cant secure our future captain Charlie Guymer.

His the type of player we seem to love to recruit from other clubs.

I wasn't a Guymer fan, at all - but he's growing on me.

He's getting better.

If he puts on some size/muscle, we could have a pretty decent player on our hands.

I really liked how he gave Paulo his try on a silver platter - showed a lot of spirit, and class.

“Just simplify his game and tell him to run 200m+ each week”.

Are you merkins serious? You think it’s that easy?!!! Do you know what sort of players do that?!!!

You merkins are off your head, seriously.
Alright, the 200m is an exaggeration. I’m referring to he just needs to worry about getting us out of our end. Get rid of the sideways running and any brainsnaps he may have had in the past.

Do you think Russell will get a bit of Dylbro treatment and JR moves him around or even plays reggies
Maybe. Might depend on our position on the ladder and the effort Russ puts in.
Brown was hopeless for most of the year and with Moses long term injury we were little/no chance of making the 8.
We can’t be having back to back rebuild years so unless we’re well out of the 8 I think we’ll just pick our best team
