And was never going to happen
Liddle holds his own
Just the shit luck we are going through
Liddle has a history with injuries, and luckily for us, went through a puple patch, non-injury period. We are stuck with Flanagan, who is most suited to the 14 position on the bench. Management should have gone all out for Robson with Flanagan in the hooker rotation. A promising reserve-grade local junior would have sufficed as backup hooker.

Total salary for Liddle and Cook is more expensive than Robson.

no one outside the 6 Supp players

Rudolf and uele are both meh. Rudolf is small af and uele is slow af. Need targeted recruitment. We need a big body 1st carry prop. Basically a bit better version of klemmer.
Uele will be decent for 2026. Big body that can be supplemented well with our smaller faster middle forwards in Toby Couchman, Ryan Couchman, Stewart, Sele, etc. But don't think Sharks will let him go until 2027 and i don't think we need him then as Keaon will be with us and Loko will be a year older and better

Surely Anderson and Flanagan would be looking for an experienced prop to give our pack that leadership in 2026 until KK arrives in 2027??
Would not be surprised if they are looking at someone under contract for 2026 to break that deal and join the Dragons now.
As mentioned in earlier posts, we do have a few roster spaces still to be filled for this year.

This has always been the problem sadly, we were relying on being able to pull players to break contracts for 2026.. KK for example if we could have jagged him early, problem solved..... but slim to zero odds he would be released.

And no remotely decent fringe/junior player is coming here for a 12mth contract, we would have to commit for longer.. and even older players (such as Uele), its a hard sell + they already have 1yr contracts.. its why JDB or Klemmer made a lot of sense for 1 more year.. but is what it is.. assume we were hoping we could do better than them for 2026, but its nearly february... so I would say its more likely we pick up depth signings from here.. certainly if its a middle.. maybe we can do better with outside backs if were still chasing for 2026.

I don't know if there is any truth to this, but apparently Deardon is looking to make a move to Sydney. I know he only re-signed at the begging of last year, but his girlfriend lives in Sydney, which adds a bit of possibility to the story
Have always liked Deardon’s style of play - not too flashy that mistakes occur, but a steady approach to his game , punctuated by bursts of sheer speed .

Yes he would indeed look just great in a jersey with a big , red V ! But unfortunately I believe his footy heart is well and truly in Banana Land .

Saints should look to the English Super League. Surely there is a player there than can come in and plug a hole.

Deardon would be a great signing but so was Hunt and look how that turned out. I would keep away from Qlders after what Hunt and Molo put the fans through. How long till Gus has his coffee with Deardon and tells Burton he is no longer wanted and should pursue boxing.

Saw the same thing on the Parra forum. They say his partner has a hairdressing business in the Hills district and that they should also target him. Interesting if true. Didn't we go after him last year?

I'd sign Deardon on a two-year deal. Use the sales narrative; This short contract will allow you to sort out your long-term career and give Saints the time to bring through Reed.

An Australian rep is not signing a short term contract to then be shunted for a junior if that junior develops. Deardon will want top dollars and a lengthy contract to secure his future. He is proven at the top level and I would sign him as we would be set for the next 5 or so years for half or 5/8 with him.
