This should be a good year for nz2 with the stadium being finished

Just watch all the push for the team when the nrl game is played there

Can’t believe how Pvl has expanded the nrl so fast it’s awesome
There’s definitely something happening and momentum building on the ground in New Zealand what with the all stars game in Hamilton , origin 2 in Auckland and warriors playing in Christchurchs new stadium etc.

we need 3 sellouts and lots of media hype to get the local government of Christchurch/canterbury on board with NZ2.

Guy is talking sense here.

just think of all the media hype in New Zealand building upto the game alone.
I wanted NZ2 as the next team ahead of Perth and PNG but the way the game is building over there, it's only building more momentum, when it finally happens, it's shoot the lights out and be overwhelmingly successful.

paul bros were awesome talents in their early to mid 20’s and always turned it on fo the kiwis against Australia.

i seem to remember both playing hooker for the kiwis . Did they ever start together in the halves for NZ?

They started together in the halves during the 99 tri nations after Stacey broke his arm in the non series game vs Tonga (the good ol days when they weren't stealing our players). We lost the final vs Aus by 2 points after they scored a try in the dying stages to steal it.

Henry played hooker for NZ more than Robbie did. Robbie was usually 5/8 outside of Stacey with Henry at hooker. Late in his career Robbie did play a couple tests at 9. Both great players.

QLD government has magic round until 2027 and pay around 2 million for the" event "
My guess is NZ could easily outbid that given they've paid 5 million for 1 game.
Magic should never leave Brisbane

With the arl owing the beetson hotel and politis the Caxton I doubt they will let it happen lol

But they should be paying more as you’ve alluded too the tourism benefit would be over 50 million or more like 70

On what principle should it never leave Brisbane?
Brisbane sells out, so will Auckland.
Brisbane pays for the event, NZ will pay more.

The game is a lot bigger than a weekend of solid hotel bookings, not that they don't book out anyway lol.

The game could get several million more in NZ, it'll grow the game in NZ , which also pay for TV rights.

The game is on a roll in NZ !
2026- ANZAC day game
2027 - Origin
2028 to 2029 -Magic round
2030 NZ 2

On the thread title it will take four nrl teams so basically copy the super rugby sides minus Dunedin

If Christchurch is a quick success it will hasten Wellington

Warriors need to look at playing games out of the revamped Eden park if not all their games minus a few token ones at mt smart down the track if they want to keep growing

I think it's much easier to sell Origin as a one off major event than selling the NRL as one.
the link you provided bro, does not include any requirement that an event be a “one-off event” in order to qualify for funding.
