No need to brag anyway, it was just a trial. Souths were brave, sure, but let’s not lose grip on reality. St George were clearly the better side in the first half and bombed three or four sitters. The second half evened up once the home side rested a few players. I reckon a lot of their boys had Vegas on the mind and weren’t keen on getting injured and missing the trip, plus they probably thought they’d rack up points early and cruise. The combinations didn’t click, and the scoreboard showed it.
Souths definitely have depth, no question. But once the real stuff starts, it’ll come down to each club’s best 17 week in, week out, and who cops fewer injuries and suspensions. And yes, before you start, I’m a Souths supporter too!
