If you think things haven’t changed in the pathways since Baldie got punted you really are getting high of Bea Arthur’s taint.
We’re obviously spending more money now, with the full time pathways staff, and we seem happy to be patient and promote them. But we were also happy to promote (patiently) when Arthur was coach after our last good crop of 2017. So that’s not new. Only the increased spending is new. Maybe getting a cheaper rookie coach has also made that possible, but the CoE being finished would be the main reason.

I hate to go early on a kid but he does look an elite talent... i.e. capable of playing NRL at 18 level of talent if we look after him.

He is just physically bullying kids in Matts even though he is still 15 and everything he does just has class about it.

One area we still look light on is junior OB's coming through... plenty of halves and middles. I think even at his age he HAS to be a priority.
There’s some good outside backs in Ball. Bloomfield and Pritchard are only 18 this year. They both might kick on. Rokosuka is a beast.

I’m sure they splurged on Payne Haas for a reason.

South's starting back are going to be massive he needs to snag a half back though for 27 that will lead them around maybe DCE can run around for 1 more season.

They have Latrell Wighton Gray as their weapons in the backline.

The only issue for them will be depth.

Let’s hope he’s mentally tougher than Jacob Loko

I would suggest we would have had to buy into Ryles a lot more, than him buying into what we do.

Was raised as much during the forum
We signed Ryles, not the other way around. The limiter on what can be done and when is resources, not ideas. Ideas are a dime a dozen, and there are no secrets in the NRL. We have a lot of cash but no avenues to funnel it to players outside the cap, so we have to ‘launder’ our money through pathways spending. That requires a patient head coach, as much as Ryles wants to win now. And of course he does; he knows he’ll be judged on results and the club will throw him under the bus after a couple of poor seasons. That’s why the head coach gets to be the face of the club, despite having limited control over what it does. Look at Bellamy’s comments about Lomax. He said it’s above his pay grade, and that’s just dealing with one player.
