I think the club sacking his wife has a lot to do with this, as well.

I met the Womans coach (with some blokes who knew him well) and he said, she just wasn't good enough.

One of the reasons Scott Prince left was pressure from his wife to go home to QLD. If he was with us in 2010/11 we would have won one of those comps.

It was also, and mainly because of money. His wife completed 3 years of a nursing degree which fully qualified you in qld but not nsw, where a 4th year is required. I think you have to look at who can replace either and have they got real potential to play NRL all next year.
I think Jack Attard from Penrith is the man.
But that decision can't be called right now until we see how he performs in KOE and his NRL cameo.
Centres and wings are covered in May, Makasini, To'a, Solomone Saukuru, Skelton maybe.
So that's the gamble, Attard may not cut it but if I had a gun to my head and had to say let go bula or Makasini I would say let Bula go.

Why not both.

I still think Bula is looking for the biggest contract he can get and we won't offer him that money. I think it sucks but what can we do.

It’s not just Makasini it’s Sammy we need to retain as well.. To keep those 2 will have a ripple effect. Problem is right now Benji doesn't know how much Makasini will command .But he knows he needs to be ready with $1.2 $1.5? Sammy wiil need maybe $8- 900k . The numbers will be determined by how they perform this year.
Benji probably has made a judgement call on attard and that’s his job to make the hard calls for the sake of the cap. I’d trust his judgement on the potential of players. You’d think hed run it by the co coaches, one of whom would be a reasonable judge of fullbacks

Personally I would just take up the Bula option if we can't get a deal done within the next couple of months. We get another year of him and more chances to retain him or more time to work through a replacement.

Personally I think Turuva may be the best option at the club but he is terrible at times under the high ball plus I'm not sure he can ball play. His running game though is unreal. He'd give us a cheaper option at the back.

Attard was the second best young player in the entire panther player catchment.

Anything over $800k is for origin level talent, or at least someone who is making a massive contribution to a win, if not every week then every second or third week. He's there yet. He may get there, but he's been playing 1st grade for almost 3 seasons now.

I posted last week about them seeing something in Sam Fainu to offer a long term contract. Gees he was impressive on Saturday. He looks bigger, stronger, and faster. Also was running better lines. Super impressive

There is no issue at all if we take up Bula's option. That is why I think it's the least risky option right now.

That will give us time to assess Attard as well.
