They have far better players and know exactly what they are doing and are clinical.
Yep, the teams that can afford the most tackle breakers don’t need to make risky plays. They can just send their wingers on simple runs up the middle and bomb on the last.

It will be classic Parra to have both Tago and Xerri move clubs and we don’t get a look in lol.
If they swap, there’s no reason we’d get a look in. It’s not like we can trade Lomax to them.

But if it’s an open market then we should at least be able to offer the most cap space.

We were outnumbered after allowing a quick play-the-ball. This meant Carrigan got outside Kautoga with Haas and the entire Broncos right edge outside him. It was five on three, and Carrigan’s play to make or butcher. If he got it right (and he did), our left edge was f**ked either way. The only solution was required on the previous play.

Yep and that again is down to poor defence

Just spewing my random thoughts here but our style appears to be evolving into a very fast paced fast moving attacking style which could definitely trouble sides assuming we make the passes stick and we complete sets.

How does everyone think this style will stack up against the teams who focus on building supreme pressure and forcing teams to capitulate? My concern after the Melbourne game and then Brissy is we might really struggle against the high completion, strangel you to death teams might make us really pay.

Again, just trying to make chat but does anyone else think it will be interesting re our evolution in styles?

Not bagging, just starting a bit of conversation 🙏🏻👊🏼

I’m concerned we don’t have the smarts on our team to consistently know when to pull back on this style when needed.

I agree but that doesn't really add to the conversation, so I've just given you a like. Plus this comment to Pousplain myself. I suppose if someone disagrees, I could show my support by abusing them.

I think in terms of attack that passing, offloading and creativity is the best way for this year's team to get a top 8 or even top 6 spot. I think that is our best bet to try to beat Storm and Penrith at the end of the season but very unlikely (Storm more possibility than Penrith).
If we playing the pressure game I think we are guaranteed to get hammered by both of them.

Yes, almost certainly our style will fail against those top strangler teams - Penrith - unless we get a lot more talent into the team.

Penrith style is totally boring to me. Tucking it and running is dog shyte. If everyone plays that way I'll go watch games from yesteryear.

It's like watching a fine tuned machine thats been hand crafted in Germany using only the finest parts. Runs smooth with minimal breakdowns. Great efficiency, productive and highly successful.

I'd take that over old parts collected from the wreckers. Runs fine for 2 weeks then breaks down Always needing repairs. Blows smoke etc....

Please don't get me wrong...I too, am pissed that we can't land any elite signings.....it seriously blows my mind....we should be a very attractive club, but we aren't cause, I agree with pou, we need to start winning, and then we hold the cards.....

No one elite would want to come to a club that can't have a genuine tilt at the premiership unless we throw overs......

So my question remains to everyone, put forward what your approach would be if you were in MONS position.....does anyone have a better solution.....I think he's between a rock and a hard place and I'm getting over the continual blame game.

Simples, we have a top three 7. We need to have a top 3-5 front rower....we do not. So pay what you have to and get him. Then nurture and or buy 2 more high quality front rowers. We already have a high quality young fullback. All other retentions and recruitments should then be much easier and don't forget we have a great nursery.

That is how you build a roster really quickly. All players want to play with metre eater enforcers up front and a half that can make sh*t happen. Recruitment for a club like ours should be one of the easiest in the League, but these pillocks make it look like Quantum Theory and time travel.

Because Ryles has his own vision and at the end of the day, we wont beat the panfers at that game if we play their style because a) they're better at it b) they've been doing it longer c) their backups and junior do it.

What I am sad to see is even in the BA era, we could beat the melbournes, panfers, broncos, chooks. (not souths though)

and we couldn't use that game plan with other teams.

It could've been a fitness thing but they can be fixed as panfers shows how fit you can be... or it is psychological then focus on fixing their mentality.

That's what i am unhappy about.
Definitely a mental thing...
I believe almost anyone can win on the day...its staying strong through adversity and everyone being dialed in come game day. It only takes a few to be below par and it collapses quickly. Its rare you seem the whole panfers team play like absolute busteds. Happened to the Storm in the GF last year plus Reece played out of skin despite probably should've been watching from the sideline

Yeah it is a exciting and could upset the big un's. The big un's hate offloads and unstructured play.

It's like the Romans. They'll beat you on a massive open field and needed genius maneovures from Hannibal for example to beat them on their terrain.

But fight them in the woods and forests, they won't win necessarily. It is also Qld can beat the Penrith style Blues.

If we play the Panfer's brand, they will beat us because they are so mentally tougher and better at it and we'll end up like Cronulla. Get to 4th place every year and bomb out in week 1 or 2.

The only thing is when it doesnt work. What is the fallback. When passes don't stick. When Paulo thinks pass first. Then what.

I dont mind going back to the defense of last year and rebuilding the game plan but we need tough leaders to lead us out of that mental state and i don't think we have it.

I think the style Ryles is building with our current squad will hold up well against most teams with the exception of Storm/Penrith.

From where we’ve come from I would take that - for now - as it’s good enough to get us into finals and get our young players experiencing that level, then we need to further evolve, with a strengthened squad, to be premiership contenders

The bit I’m worried about that we will
Never further evolve because of MON and Jim. They will not get us to the promised land with inept mismanagement and failure to attract decent players. They need to go if we are to have a hope of winning the comp. Ryles can only take us so far with average players.
