All the US ratings coverage comes from this

He does also write for @awfulannouncing which is a reputable twitter feed.

I was talking about the bloke making up bullshit figures for FS1 who regularly makes up bullshit figures. I'm not sure he writes for anything reputable.

There’s a certain sub-culture in Sydney that is passionate about afl but it’s hardly something that the vast majority of Sydney-siders think about it.

It’s a mix of:
- ex Victorians
- people that don’t really follow sport but chuck on a Swannie scarf and go to be seen
- woke brigade

See giants who don’t have that ‘go to be seen’ crowd and their low crowd figures, which are beefed up from visiting Victorians, and free ticket handouts via Auskick programs.

AFL feels smaller every year. It's niche in Sydney

I heard a podcast with Caroline Wilson who had to explain to he host that people in Sydney don’t all gather to discuss the results of the previous nights afl game… :D

It exemplifies the problem with afl perfectly, they live in this isolated bubble in Melbourne where afl is soo concentrated and they cannot grasp a world outside it that doesn’t give a shit. That’s why they get expansion soo wrong, hubris, they cannot conceive of a world where people don’t care about or like afl.

If this forum if any indication of Sydney, people talk about AFL all the time... it's like a hobby to talk down its ratings or popularity.

How about sticking to the equivalent NRL ratings result: The Dragons v Storm game on Saturday rated a 0 on 9Gem in Melbourne.

can’t you find any friends to talk about afl with?
This is an NRL ratings thread. Just to clarify, it's acceptable to discuss AFL ratings here but only if you take some sort of insular Sydneycentric pride in dissing them. Bringing up any counterpoints upsets people. Cool.

Bad season to start an account to troll NRL fans about tv ratings.
I didn't troll anyone, you guys are the ones saying AFL ratings for a 2 hour delayed telecast in limited markets were poor. I merely pointed out the equivalent NRL ratings were zero.

They were poor were they not? Just like all the other fumble games that were smashed by the nrl ratings the last 2 weeks.

The ratings were low, but as per the broadcast agreement the FTA simulcast was a two hour delay in limited markets. Anyone wanting to watch the game had already watched it on Fox/Kayo.

The equivalent is the NRL making Nine air the Dragons v Storm game on a 2 hour delay into Melbourne only. Of course the ratings would be low if that occurred, the dedicated fans would have already watched the game live on Fox/Kayo.
