The only people whinging about my input are you Mr Mundine and Mrs Steel city. I shouldn't need to hijack the thread, where are all the positive posts??? Crickets

Don’t waste your time arguing they’ll only bring you down to their level. Ignore button is the go.
The funny thing was "I'm Hornbies" sorry Redv$##@!, whatever, comment that only 2 posters have a problem with him. Does the fxcker realise that everybody else has him on ignore. I am certain this is I'm Hornby. He practically admitted it when I hadn't yet placed him on ignore. Trust me folks, the ignore button makes him disappear like magic. It really works. DON'T GIVE THIS FXCKER ANY OXYGEN.

I don’t know him very well.

But I’m respecting the thread title.

Last few years in the game, I’ve seen the shift to coaches talking about moving on.

Maybe Kevvie made the ultimate “moving on” comment after his grand final loss.

I think the SGI staff are pretty motivated and would be personally distraught by the manner of the loss. No need to pile on.

The point is how to avoid it and behind that, identifying rational factors that contributed to it and addressing them as far as is possible.

As Jason Taylor once said, there’s only so much a player can actually do. A loss is acceptable if that player is near optimum.

AOB is famous for saying his team can still play their best and lose.

I suppose there’s a degree of trial and error to consider as well.

It was a tough game, but somewhat remarkable, some freak play, so I’m not taking it as standard issue for the year.

We're all distraught by the loss judging by all the posts and cannibalism. This game was supposed be our redemption and instead of being appeased we've doubled down on failure.
Most of us are hard taskmasters and desperately want to see the club be better. We get reminded constantly how shit we are by the media and from our peers.
The positive thing about us is that matter how bad it gets we always show up in here and put ourselves on the line without any fear of how our opinions will be percieved.
The moment we stop doing that is when we become losers.

Yeah, its a positive only thread.

People are really cut up over the loss and are looking for comfort and kindness.

There’s some Jamie Ainscough about this loss.

But imagine the empty feeling of a meaningless life supporting the storm?

To grovel to a man-child coach and to long for the rest of your waking life for a tradition of historical excellence like Saints.

Purple robots being perpetually electrocuted by lightning.

Cameron Smith plays most games ever and fans are either throwing up or switching the TV over to the Wombles instead.

We were all about as inspired and interested as a traffic cone.

Points will gather again for SGI.

Top 4 in 2 years.

The three marquee, I think that’s the $64,000 question as well.

We had a stats lady at Wt, and her job was to collate the stats of every player in the nrl and try to work out the real value of the asset. She ended up with Kobe Hetherington and Horsborough, but we couldn’t seal the deals.

There’s a lot more to consider.

I like to look at value for money as well. Players who get injured frequently or muck up, they aren’t value. Neither are players who get steadily worse instead of staying steady or improving.

Rosters are pretty complex.

And the maths says a whole chunk of players from all sides will be cooling their heels for much of the season via injury.

That’s not a bad thing sometimes, I mean occasionally as I’m sorry when a player gets hurt, but you can unearth stars

Part of our challenge has been Cookie has had to play 90 mins game 1 (73 tackles) and 72 mins game 2 (53 tackles).. that’s a lot of effort for a 34 year old with over 240 games.
We are missing the interchange with Liddle, who sharpens our attack and defence with extra energy when fresh.
Some good points.

I think the club knew that Cooke had peaked and the expectation was that he was going to wind down.

But fate intervened.

This is a now problem and I’m sure plans are afoot to recruit in this area as it’s pretty urgent as you say.

Need some on-boarding in a rebuilding year.

DA wouldn’t let him through if he wasn’t comfortable with his defence.

So we can assume he’s up to a base standard there.

Positives? Let's see...
* Any side on a given day, will beat any of the top echelon sides.
* The speed of the game at this time, has imo anyway reached its maximum. In fact again imo, the current speed of the game, maybe responsible for the number of season ending injuries over the last few years. I thoroughly enjoy a physically hard, dour, low scoring game, with bone crushing defence, as much as any high scoring game with flashy tries..
* As one who has been critical of the competence of the referee and bunker, I hope the rest of the season can proceed without controversy.
* The next immortal should be 1773775514281.png
Over 16 seasons, Fittler played 337 games between the Panthers and the Roosters, won a premiership at both clubs, collected a Golden Boot, and was named Dally M Centre, Lock, and Five-Eighth of the Year.
He featured in 31 State of Origins for New South Wales and 38 Tests for Australia, of which 25 he skippered.
