WHY EELS DEMOTED DE BELIN

Jack De Belin was a shock relegation out of the 17 for the Parramatta Eels on Tuesday and now we can reveal why.
He started at lock in his opening two games as an Eel, but the return of J’Maine Hopgood from suspension at prop has prompted a forward shake-up, with Jack Williams moving to No.13.
It’s understood coach Jason Ryles has been impressed with the performances of young gun front-rower Sam Tuivaiti and versatile forward Matt Doorey, resulting in De Belin being named on the extended bench.
That means De Belin, who turned 34 on Tuesday, is a big chance of missing his first game against his old Dragons side, with the veteran lock forward not expected to get a run on Sunday barring an injury.
Meanwhile, Parramatta has been dealt a backline blow with centre Will Penisini ruled out for four weeks with a groin injury that is worse than initially feared.
Jordan Samrani retains his place as Penisini’s replacement in Parramatta’s backline.

Cory Paix signs two-year Broncos extension amid ongoing battle for Brisbane No.9 jersey

Cory Paix is poised to ink a contract extension with the Broncos in a move that intensifies Brisbane’s hooking battle and could leave a cult hero facing a salary-cap squeeze.

Cory Paix is poised to ink a contract extension with the Broncos in a move that intensifies Brisbane’s hooking battle and could leave cult hero Billy Walters facing a salary-cap squeeze.
This masthead can reveal Paix has agreed to terms on a new deal with Brisbane in a boost for the hooker ahead of Friday night’s clash against Melbourne at AAMI Park.

Walters turned 32 last month and is keen to finish his career at the Broncos, who will crunch the salary-cap numbers in a desperate bid to keep the popular hooker utility at Brisbane next season.
The Broncos currently have five hookers on their books and there has long been a view that Brisbane need to trim their dummy-half options.
The battle to keep Walters could be further complicated by veteran utility Hunt, who is also off-contract and has intimate he is keen to extend his career for another 12 months in 2027.

“I seem to be getting that question a lot lately (about retiring), I don’t know what’s going on,” said Hunt.
“I haven’t made a decision at all. If I feel like I can keep playing on I will. At the moment I still feel like I can.
“I might get to a point during the year where I might make a call (to retire), but at the moment I haven’t thought about giving it away.
“As long as the body is feeling good and I can manage to stay away from major injuries, I don’t see why I can’t play on.”

We can reveal exclusively .. what a crap article. They have been spruiking this click bait for days on socials.

In the end - coach reckons that the two young blokes are better than the older guy signed for one year.

Physically he's very strong, I'm struggling to think of much else
Tackle breaks are the currency of attacking football. The premiers are always one of the top tackle breaking teams every year. The Parramatta Eels haven’t been since Hayne and Radradra were both at the club. Penisini is our best tackle breaker. You can just give him early ball and things happen. It’s a shame he keeps dropping the ball in recent years. Maybe he’s trying too hard.
