Did anybody watch that absolute bashing of Gordon Tallis by Peter Badel? It was great tv that would have Tallis still reeling.

Badel showed some balls in standing up to the Raging Bull.
But is anyone else concerned for his safety on that flight back to Brisbane ? He was getting 'the eyes'.
The Broncs old boys seem like a shitty group of people.

Im not a Broncos fan but I have a massive amount of respect for Madge. From day one, he has had the Broncos old boys, Qld and NSW media after him. It is a minor miracle that he has given the Broncos a title despite having very few people in his corner.

Throughout his career, he has always conducted himself extremely well in the public eye and is definitely a man of integrity. About time some people come out of the woodwork to back him.

This article details why Tallis has such a grudge against Maguire -

I laughed my ass off on Tallis' purported rationale.

I mean how could a person, who was not an employee of, official nor owner of the Broncos undermine the then coach (i.e. Walters) to get the job as Broncos coach? It defies logic in my opinion.

People hated on Buzz, Hooper and Kent for years but it’s pretty clear the producers just look for conflict
Listening to Kent’s podcast it’s like a completely different person. Unless that tree knocked some sense into him it’s clear he was blowing things out of proportion on 360.

Where he was particularly bad was the radio where it was even more “boys club”. The crap with Tallis and Hooper on Marroon was an awful look.

100% and is there any difference on a Sunday with Dobbo (not that I'm a fan of him at all) copping it from Tallis and 'Jimmy' Graham ? Its probably banter but comes across as a pack mentality as it did with Maroon.

I see they're all trying their best to rehabilitate the obnoxious Hooper claiming 'second chance'.
He's had more than one of those already !

Maguire has his haters but I can vouch for his integrity, When he came over for the WCC v Hull KR, he met up for lunch with some real 'battlers' (not well heeled sponsors) who follow Wigan and whom he remembered from his time there. Not an ogre at all because he didn't need to do that.

I will for sure.

The rebuilt RDS (home venue of Leinster for most of their games, will have 25k capacity with new stand) is perfect for it and a great size. Will bring a huge crowd over I think (the boats from Wales and the cheap Ryanair flights will be packed!) and will ultimately make the Aviva (oldest Test rugby ground in the world and where Leinster play some of their games, 52k capacity) appealing as a venue as it could be very challenging to get tickets. Both of those grounds are basically beside one another in a nice part of the city.

Honestly I think Croke Park (82k) could be appealing for a Magic Weekend. Tbh I don’t know why the URC won’t do one there as think it would do well so it’s a big opportunity for Super League. It could be a really smart strategic decision to go there, there’s an overflow of talent here given there’s just 4 pro teams and for whatever reason it only goes to English club rugby rather than Wales/Scotland.

These guys lose the run of themselves and think they are the main event. I don’t think anywhere else puts these journalists on the same pedestal as the NRL. Michael Chammas got a job running a team out of it after writing a glorified gossip column ffs!

I really like the Bye Round but Charlie White is the epitome of this behaviour in how he talks about other “journos”.

Sounds like you spend a lot more time watching these buffoons than I do…

All of these NRL journos have their own pods these days … from my experience with the NFL, that seems pretty typical…

A lot of the bigger names in the NFL world ( I wouldnt necessarily describe them as “journalists”) like Stephen A Smith , Nick Wright and Colin Cowherd are big personalities that do 180’s on their takes all the time … looks like the NRL guys particularly on 360 are trying to model their style on that approach… I wouldnt say it’s anything new what 360 is doing … and I only follow two sports ..God knows what is happening elsewhere

Chammas was also the best of a bad bunch amongst all those guys on the talk shows ( I can’t even recall if he was on 360 or the Channel 9 one ) …considered the hardest working amongst them and broke a lot of stories .. I’m not sure of the gossip column you are referring too……the job they gave him is being second banana ( they have appointed a CEO from the proper business world ) for a team in PNG … hardly the biggest perk going around … more like what did he do to deserve that ?

I had thought of Schefter but I honestly don’t think it’s the same. Smith I’d take as he wants to run for President (ffs!) but the number of them in the NRL is relatively crazy.

Chammas is not qualified for that job, he got it because PVL is obsessed with the media.

He deserves it.

Rugby League media is a psychological battlefield.

PNG will be a cakewalk for him by comparison and he'll be financially set for life.
