I listen to ABC Radio so still have contact with Elliott's style. He's so excellent in that 'present it to the boardroom' way, as we know to our misfortune.
Grew up listening to ABC grandstand each weekend afternoon on Radio Sport, always really good, Peter Wilkins was an outstanding caller and Craig Hamilton outstanding on the sideline

The good old days where you’d tune in with the commentary of the main game, and waiting for a break in play and the crucial around the grounds updates for the other games

Same, it's deep nostalgia! Btw, it's 35 years since the 'greatest ever season', 1991. I'm glad you're old enough to remember too.

The Tits finish on top, 22-14. I knew they'd do it and I'm rapt for all the fans up there.

Geez, we only dropped one place. That's how much of an upset the round was. The Tigers and Knights round out the top-four. Now that's saying something.

Oh, and the Storm will likely drop out of the eight next week. Glory, glory hallelujah.

modern era Matt Elliott?
I reckon that's an insult to Matt Elliott. Matt Elliott knows ball, but just probably too smart for his own good, in that regard. SJ speaks really highly of him in his book.

Seibold looks like he's one of those modern woo-woo coaches who has to surround himself with guys who know more than him, uses Confucius/Tony Robbins sayings ad nauseum and wins jobs with dazzling powerpoint presentations, not actual coaching chops.

I will admit Elliott and Seibold's coaching career looks pretty similar. Both had one good year that took them a fair few places. Maybe harsh on Seibold, he did one decent one at the Bunnies then one at Manly in 24.

He's terrible isn't he. What made him such a consistent, incredibly good footballer makes him an incredibly boring commentator.

This year's comp, I try and say it every year but there is genuinely no poor sides. Too early to call, I guess, but take out Penrith and teams 2-17, I don't reckon there's a lot of difference between them on their day

Peter Peters another one? And Greg Hartley. I remember listening to those 2.
My sweet spot was when I first moved here to the Blue Mountains in '06. Cooking and drinking in the kitchen on a Saturday night, the mrs happily waiting in the lounge, and I've got Alan Mac and Owen Wright calling a game from Mt Smart.
