Yeah the venue hasn't had a crowd above 10,000 since 2019 and feels to be shrinking in capacity every year (last few big games have been around the 8K mark)Union claimed 18k for a shute shield final
But it’s a dump shouldn’t get nrl games
Watched some old games recently it’s just not for for it
Ceo seemed to suggest it wasn’t and there wouldn’t be a regular season game there.Yes… we are all speculating on the draw … they won’t announce it until November
Is NSO currently up to NRL standard …and what’s the capacity these days ?
More recently it's at least been up to NRLW standard for SOO where they drew 10.5k
This NSO chat is redundant. While games can be played at Coffs Harbour, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and in recent years Rockhampton, Mackay, Sunshine Coast and Kayo - they can also be played at NSO.
All the above sit at approx 10k. There is no real difference between them in capacities.
True, and in those other regional locations clubs get paid a motza to play there so loss of ticket sales is negated. The question is whether the Bears will play an NRL home game at NSO potentially even Year 1…. Most of those other places don’t have a 40k stadium a couple of kms away

The commercial aspect of a 1 off game has no bearing on a club owned and entirely funded by the NRL itself.True, and in those other regional locations clubs get paid a motza to play there so loss of ticket sales is negated.
The chat was re: capacity. People stated the current capacity isn’t enough for NRL games. More than half a dozen similar capacity locations which currently cater & host games has been provided. The question is whether the Bears will play an NRL home game at NSO potentially even Year 1…. Personally… I won’t be caring a few years down the track they take take a game to NSO… provided it’s up to scratch… would just seem a waste to me if they do it the first couple of years
It was never about just taking a game on the road to a smaller venue, it's about the history as it pertains to the Bears in that specific venue. Capacity is obviously a factor, but as @Red&BlackBear has pointed out, there'd be a double standard to dismiss it on that basis. If the Bears wanted to take a game on the road to a smaller venue, they would be better going somewhere like Mandurah, Geraldton or Albany (all which have venues with similar capacity to NSO) IMO.
This is where the lack of recent high attendance actually works in its favour. Having been there both recently and in 2019, there's been virtually no accelerated wear & tear in that time.“More recently “ -2019…pre covid …
That seems a long time ago..

Couldn't be more okay with it.Works in your favour … if you are ok getting potentially a 30k smaller crowd
Couldn't be more okay with it.
Yes… we are all speculating on the draw …I don’t think you get a vote though
nah but the 3 north sydney perth bears board members including norths chairman plus the 2 independent from sydney do.I don’t think you get a vote though

Which is fine but you would sellout Allianz v chooks which has got to be worth at least an extra million dollars for your clubCouldn't be more okay with it.
