2026 Crowd Watch

If that's the case I wonder if we split the teams so both the Dogs and Bunnies get a home game against the Eels and Tigers. We simply need more games at Accor on this weekend. If we don't then watch GWS take the Monday slot in the future and reap the rewards from it.

Friday - Dogs vs Eels.

Monday - Bunnies vs Tigers.

Yeah that could work.

Just frustrating to see people suggest that Parra move a home game away from its home base to satisfy the leagues metrics.

What about the Eels metrics of winning bloody footy games?

And the amount of revenue going through parra leagues on game day.

People need to stop this move Eels home games away from Commbank crap.

If the Eels are forced to move games out of Commbank then no club is safe.

I get both sides. I understand Parra fans want to keep games at CommBank (although that's going to backfire when you're really good and you're locking out tens of thousands) but we also need to take advantage of the weekend. So really splitting the two Accor tenants is probably the best choice overall.

You could potentially have a round with three 50k crowds. You could have Dogs vs Eels on Friday, Broncos or Dolphins vs whoever at Suncorp on the Saturday or Sunday, and Bunnies vs Tigers on the Monday.

Now imagine if we could get the Warriors to play Good Friday at Eden Park lol. Maybe that's something you could build towards another 50k crowd.

I think any suggestion that the Tigers start taking games back to Accor needs to be considered in the context of their new stadium strategy:
- $50 million upgrade at Campbelltown to increase capacity to 20,000 and improve corporate facilities
- $50 million upgrade at Leichhardt to increase capacity to 20,000 and improve corporate facilities
- 15 year agreement to play games at Campbelltown and Leichhardt (if this agreement commenced in 2025, that takes us through to 2040).
So one of the few NRL clubs capable of being part of a 50k plus crowd is going to have all its home games at 20k max venues?

This idea that Parra has to move its home game out of the 30k best stadium in Sydney to please other clubs fans is lunacy.

Giving away our home advantage.

f**k no.

Accor is rubbish.
As an Eels fan I say we need to be prepared to have our event game at SFS or Stadium Australia or we should lose the event game. 30K (which really means 29k) is too small when it would get 45k elsewhere.

That's peak NSWRL lol

Seriously though if you were a club aiming to win a GF, why wouldn't you want to play at the same ground as where the GF will be played at in front of a big crowd?

As an Eels fan I would agree with that or always making the Eels v Tigers easter monday game a Tigers home game and play it at stadium australia.

The Showground is out of action for all sport during the Royal Easter Show including Giants home games.

The biggest AFL opening may come in the return of the Sydney Swans to Accor Stadium after the opening of Sydney Metro West in 2032. I could see the AFL trying to muscle into Accor again if fans were happy to travel from the east/north on the metro.

Canterbury already plays Parramatta (with huge crowds) on the King's Birthday weekend. Canterbury vs South Sydney is a landmark annual regular season game on Good Friday. Why change two winning formulas?

Because it can be improved on.

If you want to keep Dogs vs Eels for Kings Birthday then go with Dogs vs Tigers and Bunnies vs Eels. If we want Accor to be upgraded to a rectangular stadium, then we need to give it more event games.

The extra 15k is not worth it.

Parra revenue before commbank 75million

After Commbank, 110m a year.

If Eels and Tiger both going well then i could see 60k+ crowds for Easter Monday, until then its not worth it for the Eels.

What's the point of stacking a round like Easter with already-high drawing games? Broncos/Phins is fine where it is in the calendar and will draw big crowds regardless.

Agree Warriors need to move games to Eden Park and the Easter weekend would be a good opportunity. I've always though the Warriors should get an annual home game at Eden Park on ANZAC Day, you know, to put the NZ in ANZAC.

Wests Tigers play a "home" game against Parra at Commbank in round 22. Both sides play against each other twice at Commbank this year.

I love Parra Stadium - every seat is great.
However, I HATE how its capacity locks Parra out of ever being in that group of big clubs that can draw massive 50k plus crowds (Dogs, Tigers, Souths) or even a medium/big crowd (the Roosters and Dragons).
That makes us smaller.

I'm not saying Broncos vs Dolphins, I was saying one of them should host a game at Suncorp. Sorry for the confusion.

Warriors have huge potential, hopefully we see them try to schedule an event game or two at Eden Park in the future.

Hence why I meant GWS at Accor. The ground can still be reconfigured for AFL games.
I'm not sure there will be enough demand for GWS to play at Accor in our lifetimes. The Swans would make much more sense. Eastern Suburbs/Inner West/North Shore types make their annual trip to Sydney Olympic Park and get their one-two punch of the Royal Easter Show and a Swans game.

Whoever it is we need to cut them off so we don't give the government any reason in the future when they upgrade Accor to keep it multipurpose.
