3-2-1 v Sharks

Hey what is up with our players failing to get into dummy half whenever there's a play-the-ball away from structure. Twice in a row, no dummy half and there were about 4-5 times tonight where we nearly got caught out.
Lack of attention to details.
Lack of intensity.
Lack of leadership.

3 DWZ
2 Leka
1 Clark

Interesting Leka is getting points and DMs in the same game. I think he was well handled by Cronulla for the most part but he kept making positive contributions. He tends to be a victim of expectations.

TT was decent and tends to come up with some big plays and nice touches at times, but I still struggle with how he just isn’t very effective at his core role and is not very threatening ball in hand unless he is chiming in on shape.

I’m still not totally sold on CNK being dumped from fullback but if he’s not going to be fullback then he should be playing Fox Memorial.

Metcalf looked quite keen to run but then wasn’t stretching out properly…like someone with 2 bung legs who’s afraid of sprinting and afraid of contact.

3. DWZ - best game he's given us in a long time; glamarous finishing, errors down and a rare full tank of energy.
2. Tuaupiki - his hustle & safety at the back was crucial or they'd have put 50 on us
1. Clark - one of the few making genuine impact

HM to Boyd who as Grizz pointed out never threw in the towel
Egan, TSS good too

Everyone else generally felt flat again, three stood out as big DMs:
Good lord CNK has fallen off a cliff, I'm not one for dramatics but he looks unfit and cooked, I think he's done.
RTS seems to have checked in to the Northern Hemisphere early, which is a shame about his attitude.
Metcalf is hopelessly short on match fitness, hopefully his hammy will be right again soon but it's back to NSW

It can't be underestimated how much these three were butchering us - turning plays to dust and being shark turnstiles.

The Iro try should not have been a try. The overlap was DWZ with a 2 on 1 overlap. I have no idea where CNK was and Boyd came in on Hynes- probably should have left him to Laban.

This one really infuriated me - you could spot CNK deep infield coming off a tackle, making a nice slow amble back to his edge as the carnage unfolded when he should have been hauling ass.

It's not like him; mind, body, heart (or all of the above) just not in it.

Ford looks gassed doing so many minutes. No good having him on there if hes ineffective. Can we give extra mins to Erin, TSS or Demi?

I think we went a bit too far each way, thinking we were premiership favourites in rounds 1-3 and now that we're cooked...that Roger is on leave already...that Charnze is Fox Memorial level...that Metcalf may never be decent again....and so on.

It's not an easy fix but the focus going forward is picking our best XVII, keeping them in the side each week to build combinations (injuries pending) and Webby earning his coaching chops by ensuring our defensive systems are strong. We'll have points in us when we fix that up, but yesterday we had guys out of position, woeful 1 on 1 tackling, attitude was off, we were probably gassed, it was abysmal

Yeah all is not lost and I am happy to get out of this mirage where we are premiership contenders right now

lol… yeah, but early in the season for anything like that…. And if there was to be premature premiers talk, there’s only one team in it… but the season is long.

See that's why you need my natural pessimism, at no stage did I ever think we were premiership contenders.

Although, my lowered expectations does mean that whenever we do win the whole thing I'll likely drop dead of heart attack due to the excitement.

I got over-excited at the season start, where we looked sooooo good. We still are in patches. But I have put the excitement back in the box and maybe get it out some time later. Metcalf was so ordinary on Sunday. Roger, O Roger. Feels disloyal to call him out, but he needs to get his head back from the uk.

I'll go with a lot of posters
