But that may not be the clubs new plan with having players go straight from Ball to first grade.

It seems like it with what they are doing with Lorenzo.
Outside backs make the jump earlier than other positions. It's a fact that the youngest NRL debuts are generally outside backs.

Yeah but like I said that may not be the clubs plan. They may expect them to do a year in CUP. Or at least start in cup.

Let's see how Nanva goes now he has an opportunity. Rich Penisini might even string a few games together before year's end. Then there's Cyrus Bloomfield who might be the best winger in SG Ball. He will play Flegg and probably reserve grade this year.

We are replacing Pezet internally, and probably Russell as well. Our SG Ball wingers, if they're going to become first graders, should be ready next year, if not this year. Russell and Penisini both made their NRL debuts at 19.

oh heaven forbid if we ever try and sign an established replacement with the money that’s been freed up in the last 3 seasons…

we wouldn’t want to improve our squad would we?

Not many players have yet signed with new clubs for '27:

Barnett (Broncos)
Pezet (Broncos)
Koloamatangi (Dragons)
Haas (Bunnies)
Garrick (Chooks)
Moale (Seagulls)
Trout (Sharks)
Isaako (Storm)
Keeley (Storm)
Hiroti (Titans)

That's it. Plus the Bears who have signed 16 players, but seven of those are from the UK.
Which team bar the Bears need signings more than us??

Keep on Glugging!!

That just proves that MON and friends are even more inept than we can imagine, how the f**k is the cobbled together squad anywhere near the cap???
Yep instead of paying for quality external signings we just over pay extensions for reserve grade standard internal signings with a sprinkling of reserve grade external signings. That’s how you balance the salary cap!!!!

We have definitely spent the money that's been freed up in the last three seasons, because teams are not allowed to spend less than 97.5% of the cap: https://www.nrl.com/operations/integrity/salary-cap/

They really should be changing this.... How do teams with absolute BS squads spend as much as squads with multiple rep players.. Some squads are noy worth the total cap.

They need to make it that over a 5 year period you need to spend a certain amount an have a min spend at 90% for a season.. So in a rebuild year you spend the 90% then over the next few years it starts to increase where you then can spend over the 100% limit..
