If they bring back mnf, they should make sure all games are played at neutral venues in regional towns so they can get decent crowds. Just my opinion.
If regional is not possible every week, Sydney needs to utilise its stadiums better. Dolphins at Kayo would be a good option. Toowoomba, Mackay, Cairns, Rocky are all good options and the competition can afford to run the regional stadiums at a loss

Bears may bring back Monday night footy
One of the biggest unknowns coming into season 2027 is where the added match caused by the addition of the Perth Bears is going to fit into the TV schedule.
One thing that is certain: the extra game won’t be a freebie for the networks. The NRL will seek to get revenue from it as part of the new rights deal they are negotiating. As it stands, the NRL has ploughed on with expansion without giving the free-to-air and pay TV partners a big say.

The Perth Bears enter the NRL in under a year. Rivals are hardly shaking in their boots
They have been minor players in the decision-making process and there has not been huge consideration given to whether they wanted the Perth and PNG teams, nor how they’d like to execute the additional game.
The value of the extra game is yet to be determined. Right now, the thinking from the NRL is Monday night football. Sunday night at 6.15pm would not be a viable option as another game interfering with the 6pm news would not be welcomed by a free-to-air broadcaster.
The Friday night 6pm game on Fox Sports is off Broadway, but it can impact the news broadcast, which is a pillar for free-to-air networks.
Monday night football would have to land on pay TV, as a show like Married At First Sight on Nine is a ratings juggernaut, and there would be resistance to replacing a show like that in prime time.

What a load of garbage. Most likely, Sunday night or Monday night game will be on Pay tv. They will pay for the extra game, not Nine. And if it was on Monday night FTA , the game would probably kick off at 7pm, not interfering with any news.

As for the MAFS s**t, I had to look at Wikipedia to find out that the season normally ends around early to mid April.

6 o’clock kick off won’t happen anyway cause people will be working on mondays

it’ll be 7 or 730 est but if it’s Perth then 830

if it gets seven and ten bidding for league then obviously it’s got to happen

Fox will simulcast it it won’t be exclusive to fta

I could see seven and Fox bidding 100 million for a joint mnf/origin package

sunday 7pm is perfect.

30mins wrap up of the 2 Sunday games, 30mins preview of the last game.

if the 4pm game goes into GP there's enough fat to cop the extended time and allow then the review/preview to still occur (albeit with a bit more haste).

MNF can get in the bin.

They just make shit up. Automatically assume because Perth is the new side "well then they'll be playing Mondays". Surely they're a lock for the late slot on Saturday.

I very much doubt Perth will be playing any Monday Night games, particularly from Perth. You couldn’t really start a game at 5:30 unless you want to have no crowds

With Sunday nights, you could take advantage of Perth's timezone. Also there are different types of public holiday Monday's. Schedule a team that has a PH the next day. An example, in Melbourne there is labour day PH in early March. So schedule a Storm match on Sunday night at AAMI.

Other examples, Easter Monday, Kings Birthday in NZ. A week later, Kings Birthday in majority of the states, including NSW. Qld labour day PH in early May. I think Townsville has one in July.

Sunday nights is definitely doable.

When the AFL play Thursday or Friday night games in Perth they usually start at 6.10pm local / 8.10pm AEST.

Not a good idea. Night games in Perth wouldn’t be a good idea - too late for the east coast. Similar problem with playing the Warriors games on a Saturday or Friday Night AEST - too late for the NZ audience particularly kids

Harkens back to the 90s where they would play clipped games or delay games due to shit tv or the news or whatever "blockbuster" was on. Christ.
