Not the 80’s again

I wasn't even around in the 1980s so it holds no meaning to me other then complete jealousy i wasn't around to witness our golden era of great players and probably never get to see a premiership let alone a dynasty.

Can you imagine them letting Ray Price in the sheds before the game this week after what we dished up yesterday.

He would tell the lot of them they were all not only a disgrace to the jersey but i reckon other names like gutless and cowards for the way they played would get mentioned because Pricey doesn't hold back and he would look them all in the eye and double down.

How would that go down with the group in this day and age where the new generation of soft cocks need to be moddy coddled.
Most of them wouldn’t give a f**k what a grumpy old man was saying. They’d likely laugh.
Avenger is right. We need to stop living in the 80s. It’s embarrassing that we are celebrating a 40 year drought this weekend

Agree , it’s super cringe and embarrassing. You don’t hear the Dragons harping on about their glory years every other week. If there was ever a club that has a huge flex about past years , it’s them. Opposition fans remind us often enough how long it’s been without us celebrating it.

I am pretty sure that we hold more wooden spoons than any other team - meanwhile, Manly have never won a single spoon, even though they entered the comp the same year we did...
I could not believe it so I fact checked this. Turns out Manly have won 25 spoons.

Rebranding is just polishing a turd at this stage. Need to become better run and more successful before we think about changing our identity.

I f**king loved the 80s - it's all our league team had, for people of my generation and younger.

For those a little older (and still with us), we also had a good run in the mid-60s, and from mid-70s onward.

The only ways around leaning on that 80s history is for an Eels team to win again - the 2009 asterix really sucks - or for us to jettison our identity and merge (e.g. Magpies and Tigers) or relocate (e.g. NS Bears -> Perth).
