Based on audience reach and minutes watched, that's AFL.and if there’s any sport that is going to get a big tv deal it’s the one which is the most watched in Australia

Does being a Rugby League fan require me to hate AFL? Perhaps it's possible to support more than one sport.Must defend fumbleball while pretending to be a RL fan
yeh there’s a well known account on Twitter that posts that tooBased on audience reach and minutes watched, that's AFL.

is there a zip on your fumbler bubble ?Does being a Rugby League fan require me to hate AFL? Perhaps it's possible to support more than one sport.
I`m not sure whether this is paper talk but if it`s coming from the NRL it means talks are very advanced I`d imagine. It’s expected the NRL broadcast deal will be finalised by July.
$800m pa might be great value with the way viewership and interest in the game is going
There’s clear momentum behind the nrl of late, and the opposite for the afl, networks will be well aware of it and will want to get on board.
Wow huge win for the good guys
Survey says...one more for the good guys!Wow huge win for the good guys

I try and dismiss the articles downplaying the rights because obviously if Nine could get them cheaper they would. They don't care about growing the game, all they care about is what can the NRL do for them. What the NRL needs is a bidding war, and hopefully 10/Paramount come to the table and help drive that price up.Nine continues to throw around money like sailors on shore leave after three months at sea … just did a deal with Netball to return that to FTA … add that to their recent deals for the unpopular Rugby Union and last year for the EPL, and the big money spends in recent years for events that last a couple of weeks like the Australian Open Tennis and Olympics.
never hear the “analysts “ warning about those sports though … just the NRL …the highest rating sport in the country that provides them quality content Feb through October .. . Make it make sense![]()

On another note, let's say the NRL isn't happy with any of the bids. Could they just not give them to anyone and start thier own streaming service? Or is that not allowed under the anti-siphoning laws?
Does free to air streaming fall in line with the legalities? I.e. if they ran two games a week free of charge through their own platform and six or seven charged? They need to have games on fta due to anti siphoning
Would take a while to set up a streaming service but Pvl did buy the assets of a failed streamer for himself
