The difference between Ryles and Flanno..

Following the team’s recent loss, Shane Flanagan publicly stated regarding squad changes: ‘If I had someone that was better out of the side, I would put them in, trust me.’”

Ryles said after the last loss he didn't want to bring a younger player up because we sucked in the NRL.. paraphrasing..
Flanno comes out and says their NSW side has no one good enough for first grade even though the they are equal first and made the GF in cup last year..
Their public statements might be unreliable. Intended to influence rather than inform.

Btw we were all supporting the club on the Lomax contract situation but happy for this kid to get out of his contract early to hopefully come to us.

Totally different scenario mate.

If this kid gets the OK to talk to other clubs, then we should be the thirstiest club in the world to sign him.

He is exactly the type of young middle we need 3 more of.

With Sam Tuivaiti and Toni Mataele, Loko Pasifiki Tonga would be the perfect addition to our weak as piss front row stocks.

I would be making love to this kid right now and encouraging him to agitate and we will look after him like he hasn't experienced foreplay and love making before.

Show the enthusiasm and courtship that Gus always does. Make the player feel smothered in love and appreciation for his talents and character. He wouldn't be on much more than $250K at the moment, so this is the time to strike.

If the Dragons won't let him go early, then we tell his manager to hold off until November and we will offer good money and a love nest for him to come to at the end of his current contract.

These are the sorts of players you move Heaven and Earth to sign, not old and busted fillers. Don't sign anyone for this year, who cares! It's all about signing real quality for next year and beyond. We need to make these kinds of signings happen.

Obviously that’s incorrect , Brad Arthur’s been gone for two years and it was his fault we were so bad.
For the 100th time he was fine up until we got the spoon. Even up to 2022, maybe even for 2023 to reward him for the flukey GF appearance, but as soon as he missed the finals in 23 he should have been boned. 2024 was completely wasted due to a lack of balls by management.

Yeah mate in my opinion is the wrong guy went. I disliked plenty that Arthur did , I disliked how bum chum he was with certain players , I disliked how he didn’t drop underperformers , I could go on all day . But …. If he was given a better roster without having to bleed maximum talent out of a team of discards , I think he had what it takes to be a very very successful coach . The time came , I’m not arguing, but even his biggest critics must not be scratching their heads having second thoughts about whether he was the problem .

23 MON and BR should’ve been boned and Arthur having till end of his contract to fix things.
We will never know I guess .

Paul Kent on his podcast said he spoke to BA and he informed him that he has learned many things from his stint with us. One of them was trusting players a little too much and being too loyal despite recidivist f**k ups. I suspect he was talking about Dylan Brown.

I wonder if he regrets organising training around Gutho to avoid traffic jams around the Wakehurst Parkway or the constant nepo picks or bagging the club on the way out. People hear shit, even nobodies like me.

The last time we won the minor premiership in 2005. We lost 49 to 26 to Souths and 54 to 14 to Brisbane....in the first 5 rounds (we had 2 wins)....

Unfortunately I think that squad is a bit stronger then this one...

He's been quite dominant in reserve grade, and we have had good success with blokes named Loko.

I am very concerned on what our back 5 is going to look like next year. I really like Apa and Lorenzo, all though i worry about how Lorenzo will adjust defensively against first grade players. We really have no depth in the backs though.

At the moment my backline for next year would look like:

1. Iongi
2. Addo-Carr
3. Samrani
4. Penisini/Nanva
5. Bailey/Nanva (depends on Bailey's rehab, or Nanva can come in and play centre and Apa wing.)
6. Apa
7. Moses

I think the reason BA needed to be moved on, and it’s a lesson others of the club should’ve learned and need to implement now, is he got stuck in his ways a bit. “It just has to work this time” or whatever it was. We really feel like since the rort days, we’ve just done the same stuff. Moving on BA and moving to Kellyville have been the only big changes. Pissing off some agents is probably the next biggest.
I’ll say we at least appear unique to other clubs in our approach…

Have we ever hit this level of dismay and essentially written off the season before Round 7?

When the inevitable plays out this Sunday, and again the following week away at Manly, we’ll be sitting at 2–6 — exactly where we were in 2018 when we picked up the spoon.

Don't give up hope. If we run hard, tackle hard, chase hard like the Knights did against them without Brown,Ponga and Best then we can compete and maybe pull off an upset.
This is a good test for Ryles. Lets see if the boys put in for him. If not then maybes he has lost the dressing room.

JAC whilst still great is slowing down. He is another that will need to be replaced by start of 2028 I imagine.
My worries right now is MON will throw all plans under bus and sign average/solid players to improve results immediately. A sugar hit.
I rather we remain patient and sign young players and build a squad from the ground up thats young and hungry. Atleast they solve a problem for 4 or 5yrs rather then 12mths. I only like signing older guys if your ninja premiership window and win now mode.
