100% agree, there is certainly a spot in our squad for Penisini. We just need to have other players in that position that are strong which creates competition and therefore doesn’t allow people to drop standards.

There may be a spot in the cup team, but I would be happy to see him go. He has had more than enough time in the NRL. He isn't getting better.

Will is a Union player playing league . His skillset is running at blokes in short yardage. He doesn't have hands, speed, footwork, acceleration , agility, jumping ability .. none of it . If you lined up all 34 starting centres in the comp and put them in a draft he would go somewhere between 30- 34. Some guys not getting a run like Timoko (who is also a limited centre) would go well before him too. I don't know why we persist with an outside back who is so limited athletically for an NRL player .. especially when the game Is getting quicker and people are looking for athletic edge players who can keep up with the modern demands of the game. To complicate matters he has multiple decision making episodes a game that leave you scratching your head and he doesn't compete hard enough at the small areas of the game. For instance he's happy to run down with all out effort on a kick chase but then won't finish the tackle. He's not a first grade level talent.
I feel like many in the club projected Will to be a rep level outside back and a poster child for our pathways and development. They wanted to hang him up as a local kid who supports Parra and made it through. He is not it. The longer the club hold onto this fantasy and hope the longer we stay in the slums.

I am a Penisini truther, but that play at the end of the first half where he outright ignored Moses has absolutely changed my perception on him.

The bloke is a fantastic runner of the ball, and really should be more effective in attack, and I ignored the hands issues on account of him mostly getting the ball from second rowers who couldnt set anyone up (see Kelma's foward pass that almost stuffed up the try). But the defense really has not improved at all, and unless you have a fantastic edge defender playing alongside him in the second row, its not going to work.

He has played 103 first grade games and for the good of his career needs a change of scenery. Also he reckons he’s 6 foot tall. Maybe when he is wearing Nike Air Force 1 sneakers with thick footy socks whilst standing on a tile.

I feel like he’s had plenty of games as good as this. Just usually we lose them and merkins focus on the negatives instead.
He does usually have a lot of those handy hit ups - but not as many as he had this game. He usually has a bad error or two.
Others say he usually makes mistakes in defense, but I don't watch defense.

It's about time he was able to take advantage of his main strength, being his leg drive. PCM and tackle breaks we ery good yesterday.

Now if he could only bury that shoulder of his into an opponent's ribs and drive them backwards in tackles, he might make a half decent centre.
