Congratulations to Dean on his interim appointment.

Whilst I personally doubt much will change, I hope he can improve our results for the remainder of the year and will be interested to see what he has to offer.

1st thing he needs to do is jump on the wattsapp group and get them back to training tomorrow.

Not convinced he is the one to lead the club. His contribution as assistant surely made a major contribution to the way and quality of the teams performance, which has consistently been poor for the whole time he has been at the club. Personally, I would like to see a whole new coaching team.
Me too, I don't think we were ever going to get a whole new team with an interim appointment though.

On the bright side, if Young is a flop like most of us know/expect, he will rule himself out of the running to be the next coach.

If by some miracle Young turns the ship around from here, then he will have deservedly put himself in the frame and I don't think many would disagree at that point.

All starts tomorrow.

I think the noise around training being cancelled is bull. I'm sure if you go to the training facility at the Uni tomorrow, they will be there.

Will Reid get a jersey and Kyle be dropped (at least to the bench utility role)?

Most importantly here though, and in all fairness to Deano, the playing group as a whole now have to pull their fingers out and start performing.

Not enough of a sample size as head coach to judge him but hope he does well for the time being. A positive is he is Young and will be able to adapt to the game a bit better than flano. He also has that cowboys connection so potentially yoink some of their good players.

Whilst I'm no fan of DY's appointment as IHC, it's time for the club, players and us supporters of the Red V to start to unite and move us in a more positive direction.
Dean will, at the very least, bring some youthful enthusiasm and I agree with the NRL360 panel, that he'll have about 6 - 8 weeks to make or break him as our future HC.

If he was very close to getting the Knights job, then maybe he has learnt from previous mistakes. He's also, from reports, high up on the Cowboys radar if Payten can't get the job done there.

So, as it stands Deano you get the BotD. The roster is shite, the players down on confidence, staring at 0-8 (0-12). If you can work some type of miracle then kudos to you and I will say job well done.
If, however, we continue to dish out the same tripe we have been over the last 6 or so weeks, then obviously the SACK DEAN YOUNG thread will go into overdrive.

Your first TLT will be a good start to show us the change and appointment was necessary and correct.

Honestly we all knew it was going to happen, all it means is the wooden spoon is in inevitable which hopefully means Dean Young goes away forever after this stint but we all know they'll spin the narrative took over in tough circumstances not his team blah blah blah. I hate this club and it's political BS.

Have you seen our defence this year ?

Do you know who is responsible for that?

Why should we support the continued bone headed decisions of this football club?

OK, I want to pay a compliment to IH. I thought you would bag the appointment, and as I always say, everyone has the right to an opinion on the forum. I really hope Dean knocks it out of the park. He bleeds red and white and according to much better and qualified folks than me, he can coach. I think your observation is well balanced. Cautious, but a little bit of optimism.

Disillusioned with that appointment.
Defence out wide is rubbish, results are rubbish under his 3 years as Assistant. No evidence he's got the command of the playing group behind him ... they'd have backed him into the job if so without today's drama.
Selection not merit-based but on connections in high places worst message we can be sending.

Cheers Rob.

Flanagan was always going to be a divisive appointment as coach with his controversial background, clearly I was never willing to support him.

However as you've pointed out, Dean bleeds red and white and passes the character test as a past player and one of our key players in the only premiership we've won as a JV.
I'm not saying he is the next great coach, but he certainly deserves an open mind to begin with from us fans.
