Poor old Irish Warrior you still going mate

Still all the BS and not a fact to back any of it up........Warrior I thought you would have learnt by now .

Anyway just another article to get you worked up again take ya time to reply. By the look of this thread you haven't left your computer all weekend.

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23635751-5001023,00.html

"Their most valuable offer on the table is eligibility to wear the Wallabies jersey. By letting a handful of stars go with the plea to "please come back for the World Cup'', more will inevitably follow suit and soon enough comes a tipping point where the Super 14 and Tri-Nations are diminished products.
Crowds dip and TV money disappears, and the already cash-strapped ARU will find the equivalent of soccer's missing 300 Aussies. "

Poor old Irish Warrior do you not see the writing on the wall yet? This is already happening before your very eyes. But don't worry just keep your head in the sand

Looks like Union is becomming more like league.

What you gonna do Irish Warrior when Union becomes more like league
I for one would look forward to see Union become more entertaining.......how about you?

Poor old cheesy . His hatred of rugby union is eating him up inside he feels the needs to post articals after articals on here which proves nothing that league would take over NZ and let alone the world . Because he rekons its the best game ever and anyone that would watch it would instantly switch codes .

You have some fans of the new law and you have some who are not happy . Life goes on cheesy .
Last time I check the new laws was that they still have scrums, lineouts, mauls and rucks and so on . So say as much as you like . Its not going to change things . Rugby is fine as it is . Thats why most people in this world preferred union over league . But keep dreaming . It might take the hatred away a bit .

Yes I must say once I have a look on the web things seem much worse for Rugby Union then I first thought

"The loser in the rescheduling is union, which is rapidly becoming No.4 in the football hierarchy in Australia. Super 14 games will be shifted from Fox Sports 2 to Fox Sports 3.Asked whether there had been any reaction from union to the switch, a Fox Sports spokesman said: "Absolutely nothing. They are saying they don't have an issue with it."

If Fox is kicking Union off to Fox Sports 3 won't that hurt the ratings even more for Union?

So in conculsion after all the evidence I think League can take over from Rugby Union in NZ if all the articles I posted end up to be true. It won't happen over night......but it will happen!

So Rugby in Australia moving to Fox soprts 3 is a very bad thing... but League doing the same in NZ isn't?????

As you can see Warrior only the ARL/NRL made money The NZRL will make money this year as they depend on internationals for ongoing revenue. Lucky for the NZRL the world cup is on. On the other hand the NZRU is in deep with the Super 14's losing Money and the RWC predicted to put them 30 Million in dept life is not looking so good for the NZRU.
The Super14 losing money will only affect the NZRFU come next TV contract round... and thats only if they dont do someting about it...

The next world cup WONT put the NZRFU into debt for the simple reason that they have about 70mil in reserves... added to that will be the NZD falling to historic levels so they will be able to make money from the FX as well.

dude, more kids play soccer than union...

and I haven't seen too much evidence of this passion in 2008, rather crowd and viewing numbers have dropped, while at the same time SKY sports overall viewing numbers have increased.
accordinding to Sky sports annual report there is a maked decrease in sports packages being bought, family packages with and without sport are on the increase...

This is the website you been getting your information about Samoan rugby league from ?

this was a much better debate until you joined in.

Poor old Irish Warrior......you still beating a dead dog.....the old Samoa line again

I do feel sorry for you and once again I will give a link to a nice article on the state of the game in NZ. Things are not as rosy as you make out my freind. I did not know that NZ have only had 1 Sellout crowd in the Super 14's this year. Irish Warrior you must of forgot to tell me that:shock:

http://blogs.nzherald.co.nz/blog/yo...right-solution-revive-waning-interest/?c_id=4

Also with the super 14 revamp they are looking to have a pacific team playing out of NZ  Warrior......you have been telling me Samoa is a rugby union oasis and yet instead of a pacific team playing in Samoa, Tonga or Fiji they put in in NZ!

But wait there is more........a Argentinaian team playing out of South Africa:lol:
That's like the Broncos playing out of Melbourne.
Warrior, going on the NZ rugby fans posts in the above article Union is in more trouble then I thought:eek:

Poor Irish Warrior just does not know when to quit. But don't worry Japan will save you.

You make some valid points Te Kaha!

Yes i agree the new TV contract is key not only to the NZRFU but the ARU and SARU as well.

If the NZRFU do have 70 mil in reserves then you are correct. But not sure if that makes the losing "30 Million" any better. But as mentioned it has not happened yet so we will all have to wait and see;-)

But in saying that compared to the NZRL that have $0 in the bank and and losing 1.7 Million financially the NZRFU is in far better shape.

The key for Union and League is to keep their good players in NZ. In Australia sporting bodies are looking to give sporting players tax breaks (See below) to help compete against the European countries which seem to have heaps of money at the moment.
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23620481-23217,00.html?from=public_rss

Maybe that's what the NZ sporting bodies should try and do as well.

They WILL lose 30 million from hosting the world cup... pure and simply because the only source of revenue for a host nation is ticket sales... the world cup itself will still make its usual 100's of millions but the NZRFU will only see some of that if the All Blacks win.... Since the 30 million is under written by the govt, it remains to be seen how much will actually be lost by the NZRFU...

The key difference in this whole clusterf**k of a thread is that while the super14 has had a bad year, it by no means means that Rugby is dying and now the NZRFU is doing something about it...

9 years of having a lesbian in charge of the country has royally screwd up all sport... we shall see what happens after the change of govt... and how much money is put back into it.

So let me get this right.

RU is supposedly the national sport of NZ.

that means it should be popular, have lots of fans.

why would a popular sport need government money to be injected into it regularly to make it healthy?

and of course ive ignored the $30 million from the WC losses which the government will cover because its confusing pointint out all your errors at once
