well this year NSW has to sell 167000
just a few more don't you think? Like, the entire capacity of Suncorp again!

Timmy just still doesn't get it. Look at last year. Queensland had 2 matches to sell, a total of 104967 people attended both games combined, 2 complete sell outs and both matches sold within a matter of hours if my memory serves me correctly. NSW had just one game to sell and could only manage 76924, not a sell out. Keep making excuses, the facts are that this game should've sold out in 5 seconds flat, regardless of whether this rumour is true or not, it shouldn't exist as there shouldn't be any tickets left. We're talking about the biggest match outside of the Grand Final, there are no excuses to be made.
The SFS holds about 42500 now.Once Newcastle gets a stadium with a capacity approaching 40k I think it would be worth taking the second NSW game up to the Hunter.
That would result in only one game in Sydney while still preserving home ground advantage. It would also be a worthy reward to a Rugby League-mad part of the state. It's worth remembering it isn't Sydney v Brisbane.
At the moment 26k isn't big enough for an Origin match, but I can see a day when taking Origin to Newcastle makes sense.
Cheers.
Yeah, but let's not hang by our nuts waiting for that to happen.Well if the ARL would show some balls with their 50% control of the NRL Board and hold out for better TV deals then perhaps they wouldn't be so desperate for money. Then they could get back to doing whatever is good for the game and its fans across the entire length of breadth of Australia instead of just what is most profitable.

there are plenty of good seats IMO , and they sell out quite easily. But if you have ever sat in the very top of the eastern or western stands you would understand why people dont want to sit there.
the reality is ANZ was designed with olympic sight lines in mind. There are plenty of examples around the world of 80K odd rectangular grounds that provide much better viewing than ANZ. Im confident if we had such a ground in sydney we would sell it out much more easily.

Drop Suncorp in Sydney and you can bet your ass it would sell out quickly, that's the premise.
Not to mention it's cheaper to live in Queensland![]()

:? How many times a year are football matches and union matches played there? PLENTY. How often is league there? WEEKLY.That's funny as other events such as the Bledisloe Cup and soccer don't seem to experience this problem that you talk about of fans not wanting to sit in the top stands. Yet for what should be one of the biggest events on the Sydney sporting calender continues not to sell out. We can keep making excuses but it makes league look bad when it's jewel in the crown can't sell out in it's supposed heartland.
Hell if you want to bring the visability argument into it, 54,000 Victorians of all people didn't mind turning up to the Telstra dome to watch SOO 3 in 2006 in an oval venue made for AFL.
Really? I would've thought money and living conditions would've been a primary factor in people's ability to attend matches. Seeing as you live in NZ and have very little idea of those differences I really don't understand how you can validate what you've said in this instance. It's official, we've hit rock bottom in the search for excuses.
Tell you what. You get the NSWRL to give all three games to the QRL and we'll show you.I'd love proof of that.
