Dont know anything about him but at least its an outside appointment. payne was pretty terrible by all reports so cant imagine hes any worse.

NSW Cup should be much better then last couple of years, team could look something like this:

1. L Lauilili
2. Thompson
3. Makasani
4. Maps
5. Tavana
6. Javon Andrews
7. Madden
8. Afoa
9. Hope
10. Tateeo
11. Geyer
12. Sukkar
13. Bird

14. Saukuru
15. Taupau-Moor
16. Murray
17. Haywood/Mason

Outside backs still light on, we've lost Naden/Faatape/Staines/Feledy etc who were good nsw cup level. Not sure if Thompson/Maps are staying on but Maps was at presentation night. Heard Tateeo is still at the club next year. Max Tatuoa finished the year at centre and looked, hope he's still on a nsw cup deal. Tito Tavana was a freak in Flegg and has signed a 1 year T&T deal so will be in Cup.

There's always a few pick ups you dont know about until pre season so will watch with interest

I think i may have pondered this before but... state cup is where the signing of Madden makes sense to me... compared to having say Bud Sullivan there, Madden is a steady predictable hand which should help speed the development of the players around him ...hard for young guys to build their game with either a rookie or erratic half at that learning stage...I feel that Madden will be a real coaching asset for McCarthy as much as he'll be depth for first grade....I dunno...maybe

Not sure if Thompson/Maps are staying
I'm wondering if Tyrone McCarthy with keep the reserves chugging along.
How much influence do you think he had on the roster changes. Unlike the NRL where you quiet often seen new coaches bring ne players and staff with them, the reserve grade side is often.....what you see is what you get. https://www.weststigers.com.au/news...tigers-as-knock-on-effect-nsw-cup-head-coach/
I really hope Thompson stays Vic. He had an awesome year this year. The guy is a big, fast utility back and we need depth.
Do you rate L Lauilili. I think he's a future star.
We haven't rushed the lad since his debut however he's been injured a couple of times.

Bunty Afoa is better than Bird now that KPP is coming surely. Watch some of the big fella's highlights.
KPP surprisingly has got a bit of toe for a big fella and can offload. Way better value.
So Bunty could find himself playing a bit of an impact role that we were wanting out of Hunt.
The only value that Bird offers in my opinion is, that in a pinch, he can play in the backs if one or more of them go teets up during a game.
