Seriously though, for the first year most fans will just be relieved to be rid of Noddy so he'd have to stuff up big time and constantly to earn the wrath of the fans. On the subject of copping it big time from your own fans though, one word: RYLES.
Clubs, players, supporters, sponsors... these are all essential to the game.
I think Ryles copped an unreasonable amount of abuse, but it was from only one fan and he should have ignored it and kept moving. It stands to reason that both the fan and Ryles regret some of the things said, assuming they both are normally reasonable people.
With Barrett, quite frankly I have trouble believing that any player would allow fans to dictate where he plays. I suppose it takes all kinds but I'm not sold on that being the reason. It most likely came down to money and the proximity to family - ie normal reasons.
Fact is, players have been getting heckled for generations. And in those past generations the players were not even being paid enough to cop it on the chin, but they did.
In the modern age players change clubs, even the loyal clubmen... that's business. But the most passionate fans stick it out through thick and thin, and long after the star players have retired from the game. Passionate supporters, for better or worse, will follow their club until the day they die.
IMO, any elite player should be able to look at the big picture - they are there to play football first and foremost. Afterwards, they can sit back and enjoy the trimmings of a decade of playing at first grade level.
In summary, any player who bags out the fans is just a sook.
Of course, this is just my opinion and I'm happy to debate the point, and if neccessary step back if a better argument is presented.

Is there anyone seriously thinking Barrett will deliver a premiership? And in that I include Barrett himself.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Ricky Stuart believes in himself enough to think he can guide you guys to your maiden premiership. But belief and reality are two different things.
