A MESSAGE TO FANS FROM THE REDS LEADERSHIP GROUPTo All Our Loyal Supporters
On behalf of the WA Reds we would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support on Saturday night, it was Amazing! Hearing the whole crowd chanting REDS!, REDS!, REDS! Really lifted the boys.

The loyalty shown to the team has been much appreciated and we see the people that come week in and week out and support us. When talking to the team everyone says how great our supporters have been and how loud!

It makes a huge difference to the team to have the support of the crowd behind us and once again we would like to thank everyone for coming and cheering us on!
We look forward to seeing you all again at our next home game on the 28th June v Wentworthville Magpies

Yours In Rugby League

And a couple of NRL clubs too. I think Melbourne did (and maybe still do?) have several players who are in some kind of leadership group with Cameron Smith being the official captain of the side - much in the way that Shayne McMenemy is the official captain of the WA Reds.

we had 1 for our school rugby team, i was in it, but we never released formal letter via our internett adress, altho we did put up a trucklaod of signs around or school promoting our game against scotch, about 400 people showed up, most of them from shenton and drunk, biggest crowd, but if it gets the message out, then i dont c why not, if u only have 1 captain that every1 has to talk to, i find that its a bit intimidating if u dont know them very well or they r a bit arrogant, but if you have a leadership group, its not as tho its communism, and people can talk more openly.

its a group of players who have been given a leadership role by the coaching staff.

One leader would be a start at the moment for us!

Most clubs do have a senior player group made up of 4 or 5 of the more natural leaders. They tend to be the capt, vcapt plus a couple of other natural leaders. They often work with the younger players and mentor them as well as do the media engagements etc.

yeh, i'm currently read the autobiography of tana umanga, and when he was captain he said he didn't like being the only one to lead, and that he suggested a leadership of 5 players, and that worked really well for him cause he could focus alot more on his game instead of trying to lead as well,
