This is where union and AFL kill us as they have alot of corporate business people in their game. Look at Demetriou he is an ex North Melbourne player. I also believe this is why league administrators stay in power for so long, they don't want to lose the gravy train they are on, whilst in the other sports they can move on and maintain their status/earnings.

It's probably the result of being shut out from all the elite schools who generally provide societies leaders.

joe thomas is doing ok for himself. set up his own clothing label.
i think the next batch of league retirees will be allot better off business wise.
robbie farah is still studying just like some other players are, plus the nyc forces kids to learn as they play so at least they are doing something

Idiots.

Geoff Dixon will be out of a job soon, his dad started the Wagga Magpies leagues club.

Billy Moore does very well for himself, so does Mark Coyne.

John Fahey, JOhn Quayle.

Ideal single body RL board in Australia.

Geoff Dixon - CEO.
John Quayle - Marketing.
John Fahey - Political links.
Brian Waldron - Expansion into non-heartland territory.
Some chick, because it's not PC to have an all-male board.

Geoff Baldwin would do a great job but doubt he would want to leave his businesses. No axe to grind a good business background and die hard RL man.

Geoff Baldwin began his career in business after 12 years in the Australian Army where he attained the rank of sergeant at 6 Battalion Royal Australian Regt, in Brisbane. He served his last five years in the elite S.A.S. Regiment in Perth, until 1986 when he elected discharge after being medically downgraded due to serious injury.
After a highly successful career in the real estate industry, Geoff Baldwin now holds the position of CEO with a Information Technology company. He is the Chairman of the Salvation Army Red Shield Neighborhood Appeal and a director on several other prominent boards. Geoff personally owns businesses specialising in real estate, property development, marketing and Information Technology.
Along with his passion for our game and through his vast experience in many areas of life and business Geoff Baldwin brings valuable input, direction and knowledge to the WA Rugby League in the position he has filled as WARL Chairman since 1999.

This list doesnt look to good. By the way how much does Gallop make? because if you were a succesful ex RL business man why would you want to be the NRL CEO if he doesnt earn much and you can earn more money at other businesses. Living Melbourne i know Demetriou earns about 1 million a year.

Being a CEO isn't a popularity contest mop-pusher.

Geoff Dixon has proved himself to be the best boss of an airline in the last 30 years, and a very competitive, and globally competitive industry.

wagga magpies  what a claim to fame

Yet again dopey you miss the point.

The point is Dixon comes from a family that has involved itself with RL comprehensively.

you're right though, NRL needs businessmen and less f**king ex-players

definitely!

I don't really even see that they need an nrl background. you don't need to be able to score tries to run the game. you just need good business sense - in theory you can apply that to any industry. if anything I'd rather see people who aren't league players ... the less factional or biased they are the better.

His appointment certainly wouldn't do the RED's chances of an nrl franchise any harm :)
