I Think Cameron Smith Will Leave?

I seriously think there is something wrong at the storm, even though there winning games the players aren't as commited as last year..

Cameron must stay in order for the storm to stay competitive.. I think he may be lured back the Queensland and most likely Brisbane. I say this because Ryan Hinchcliff from the Raiders is bound this way 2009 and 2010, and the broncos let Michael Ennis go.. I.e Cameron Smith.

Or England..

Smith > Manly

We are the only club, maybe the Roosters, who could fit him under the salary cap.

Um, Dragons and Bulldogs have some space apparently.

And there's nothing stopping Brisbane or whoever releasing a bunch of people to free up salary cap space in order to sign him.

Well the Dragons just bought Priddis, so I doubt Smith will be going there. One can only hope though :D

He has recently stated his and his family`s (wife and a little daughter) desire to go back closer to the rest of his family and relatives, who all live in South-East Queensland.

i doubt he'd leave melbourne for a sydney team. he'd only leave to go to brisbane or the gold coast

Yep couldn't agree more...

But I doubt Brisbane will sign him (Salary Cap issue *cough* Folau) even if they could, But GC on the other hand...

This almost sounds exactly what Folau stated before moving back home!
Although he said it was for family and his religion.

Just a general question....has he played much halfback in the past? I seem to remember him playing a few games there....

Can't remember him playing any halfback, he may played a game here or there when Cronk or Orford was out but has always been first choice hooker.

Smith's comments in the paper this morning seem to have him considering England if the money is on offer once his contract is up.

He made his debut at halfback, but only because Melbourne were so short of halves at the time.

With Folau and Lockyer taking up close to 25% of their cap I don't think Brisbane can afford him. Throw in Hodges too.

He didn't exactly say that. He said that his partner is having a baby and my family and my partners family live in SE-QLD. He was then asked if his family would play a part in his next contract negotiation. And he said he might take that into consideration and will discuss it with his partner.

Anyone think the Australian captain in one of the 4 key positions on the field will demand anywhere near the money his 19y.o winger team mate did when he left?

Shut the gate people.
