Channel 9's Disgraceful coverage of finals

It's written in the contract that Channel 9 MUST show finals live.

Gallop isn't very good at enforcing contractual obligations upon the NRL's media partners. I wonder why the NRL bothers putting clauses in contracts at all.

Given that in September there's only one external time-zone to worry about, I dare say it's just a lack of foresight from the NRL to think that the Warriors might possibly get a home final.

I remember a similar stink about the first qualifier last year between Parra & NZ, noone will care the day after the game.

Most importantly, it's got a huge crowd turning up (sold out this morning in 11 minutes), and will be shown prime time at 7:30pm when MOST people will have access to it.

Sure, it's not live - and I understand that's not part of the contract, but at the end of the day is this going to do any major harm?

Got a point to make Brutus? Aside from not having live television coverage (which might not rate as well anyway given on Fridays some people aren't home that early), what are the disadvantages of this?

Not too mention it will now be full of adds instead one quick add when a try is scored. which in itself gives the results away, the more adds that are on you know there arent many tries scored.

Personally those "quick ads" piss me off more. It means often enough we miss the goals being kicked or even the first few tackles of the return set after the try. I'd rather it on delay where we see every single play.

Yeah but if you're behind on the score board and they keep going on long commercial breaks, you know've you lost. May as well check the score on the net.

I was quite impressed, and surprised that the Storm - Warriors game was televised live into Melbourne on Sunday. I was at a pub in Melbourne and the bar girl even asked if anyone minded if she put the 'Rugby" on the big screen.

Ugh, it's painful to watch games with all the ads.

Ink and others, it's important to note what Ink himself posted above - the EPG entry still reads LIVE for 7:45pm. This just means the EPG both online and on all our foxtel machines hasn't been updated with the new information. It was confirmed LAST NIGHT on 2GB by NRL COO Graham Annesley that Channel Nine will screen both games live, the Friday game immediately following National Nine News at 6:30pm.

Why people are believing a rival station and absolutely no written confirmation has got me stumped...

LOL...dumbo wrong again...fancy that.
Tim tim, take your EPG's & COO's and stick em up your ASS

There is one logical solution to this

Fox should play it live and let Ch9 run with their time slot this is the only way as I see it - to be fair to the vewing ,paying and preferential public.9 has a contract and they cant stick to it so they should let FOX play it and all are happy...if I am right 9 should be sued by NRL but they wont will they ?.
Double standards and money flying out of pockets.
Never f**k with the "Fan" they screwed your Superleague crap and they bought Souths back in..........Ya just farked up again.

I bet this adds value to your day and makes you feel spectacular about yourself. You couldn't care less about the point of this argument and it shows - you'd rather get your jolly's off me being proven incorrect.

Put simply, that's completely in violation of the anti-siphoning laws. Nine would therefore have to delay the game until at least 8:15 or 8:30pm as they cannot show the game during the same telecast.

is it actually in the contract?

can't find anything atm

if so then Gallop had no right to go off at SBW when he lets the merkins at 9 get away with murder

True talk about syphoning.......Nrl gets underpaid for League ,CH9 pays unders for league ...mmmmlets see 150mill at least extra ...give the clubs 5mill each of what could have been and you have the right Cap and plenty of cash and a tidy profit.
If I had the doe Id start my own League comp.
