I'm so glad the Storm won. Althought I hate them like everyone else I believe the broncos would've been too much for us. An added bonus if Smith is suspended, the other bloke did a classic chicken wing tackle as well. They can't go hard and suspend someone for a week because of media influence and then in a few more weeks totally disregard the rule. The NRL is seriously f**ked right now.

Soon a Melbourne player will crush a vertebra in the neck of a ball carrier, that unfortunate player will spend time in a wheelchair , maybe the rest of his life. What they do in a tackle is initialy ok but the force applied by a secondary tackle is what will cause the injury. Another player will 'come in over the top' this will cause the commpression and crushing/fracturing. I wonder how they will feel knowing they put a player in a wheelchair? I have put this up on the Melbourne Forum under 'wheelchair tackle'. Im worried that this sort of tackling will give the sport such a bad name that it will affect incomes. I know the 'code' in junior football limits a lot of the stuff we see in the NRL . But its what people see on TV that counts. Would News Ltd really condone this sort of tackling that could lead to incredibly bad publicity? Why risk it?

Warren Smith on NRL on Fox last week was all over it. He will harpo on it constantly.

Does anyone know the exact definition of what a Grapple tackle is?

I know it wasn't the regular grapple on the ground wrestling and whatnot, but it was still attacking the head and neck, and exerting pressure with a second effort.

My prediction however is for him to be charged with something other than a grapple like a "Contrary conduct". That way he escapes the loading, might miss 1 week, but will still be available if the Storm make the GF. Will be interesting if he tries to fight it though.

Yeah and if you guys watched The Sunday Footy Show before The Roast you'll see that most there thought Smith was in trouble.
I'm more inclined to trust Sterlo's judgment(which is usually spot on) than Goulds.

If he is charged it will be with something that does not attract the carry over points and with an early guilty plea he will be free to play.

That's not even the worst of it.It doesn't show Smith(cam) actually pulling thaiday's head,then wrapping his arm around his neck and head slamming him to the point where thaiday's legs were pinned underneath is own body.
