Souths have come out with the first new news of the 2009 fixture setup, declaring their locations and opponents for "on the road" home games...

Rabbitohs to play 'home' game in Perth
By Justin Chadwick
AAP

South Sydney are set to play NRL "home" matches in Perth and Gosford next season.
The Rabbitohs' home game against current premiers Melbourne will be held at Perth's Members Equity Stadium - giving Western Australia its first taste of NRL action since 2005.
Souths CEO Shane Richardson also indicated on Tuesday that a home match against Newcastle will be played in Gosford as the club looks to spread its brand.
"We are looking at ways to spread the appeal of the Rabbitohs and to bring in new money to the club and the game, and that is the thinking behind taking a game to Western Australia next season," Richardson said.
"We are confident that we will be playing the Melbourne Storm in Perth in 2009 as well as playing the Newcastle Knights in Gosford.
"We want to thank the NRL and the WARL for their support and partnership in this project, and we'll be working hard to get everyone in Perth behind the Rabbitohs in 2009.
"This is a positive move for the club as we look for additional ways to build our business and continue to push forward in a competitive national sporting market."

Venues don't normally get confirmed for a few weeks later, but yes it is much earlier than usual. Last year's announcement took place on October 20 but it seems the NRL want to integrate it into the GF week celebrations. Lockyer & Wing will present the announcement apparently.

Thats alright, the NRL better give the dogs a home game first up or for the first two for Hazem as he is close to the record so it will be nice to celebrate it at home

2003 and it's about time we had another one at home.
Next year will make 6 season in a row without our 1st round game at home.
Construction at Kogarah is well on par to be completed before season kick off.
In fact they were thinking about putting in the next lot of construction before the season started....unlikely to happen though.

I've also heard unconfirmed reports that the Bulldogs will play at least one or two matches at Gosford.

Timmah is clearly lying. Delete this misleading nonsense, or at the least, change it's title.

Yeah, funny that. Especially considering the draw comes out tomorrow...

The amount of simpletons on this site just defies belief.

Based on what? I supplied a link on the facts established and commented that the other was simple rumour. Have you tried contributing to anything I post in without being a nark or a wanker?

Is it going to be yet another bloody season where the Roosters and Rabbitohs square off in round one? Paying 1.02 at Sportstab.

You surely are smart enough to tell the difference between myself, who engaged in and stated what I heard was speculation - as opposed to BF, whose post seemed to declare it as fact that Smith was appealing, when there was no written evidence ANYWHERE to suggest so. He never even said he was speculating - just lied outright and wasted this forums time.

Gawd no,not again.

Fine by me, less travelling

So he seems to declare it as fact...and then lies outright?

Make your mind up.

Wheres the 2009 draw?

I cant see it.

Misleading thread title, someone delete or edit this lie.

You really have something wrong if you're going to continue to harp on about this. The 2009 Draw is released tomorrow, with Lockyer and Wing featuring in the announcement. Now f*ck off and stop being a sad old man, and annoy someone else.
