Now Manly will get punished for success and have their players slowly poached away.

Can't we let the Manly fans enjoy the win for now?

Not even 24 hours has passed and we're subject to another thread that only adds to the overwhelming negativity that has permeated through the game during the year... all on a day that should be about the positives for Manly fans and the club, not the negative.

Unfortunately it's just part-and-parcel of the NRL these days. I don't see why we have to pretend it isn't. We're all NRL fans here, we're not publicly bagging the game or anything.

I'd love to see now much this costs:-

01. Karmicheal Hunt
02. Steve Michaels
03. Justin Hodges
04. Israel Falou
05. Nick Kenny / Craig Frawley
06. Darren Lockyer
07. Peter Wallace

You guys are doing just fine thank you.

That Yoh Yeh guy will be on one of the wings next year. That kid is quality.

As much as I dislike and will continue to dislike them, I just want the positivity to live for now.

And I'd like to thank you for recognising that what I held was an opinion, not a forum cop attempt as you first thought :)

It was the unnecessary attacking of the original poster that I had a problem with.

Attacking the salary cap because it means that successful teams can't automatically build dynasties that last for a decade? Whatever floats your boat I guess...

I prefer a comp where the richer clubs don't get an insane advanatge over those who are operating at the normal financial benchmark level across the code. It's the only way we can hope to see the game expand or move to other areas, and live up to its National name.

The Titans are a good example of the benefits of the cap. Removing or weakening it will only result in a boring uncompetitive 8 team comp made up of the chosen few mega teams - remembering someone tried that in 1996 and it didn't work and the game still suffers as a result today.

Manly fans have no reason to be upset about losing playuers it has happened to every team that has won for at least ten years if it didnt happen manly may never have got some of there players. The salary cap is only a problem for the clubs who follow it

without the salary cap Manly would be dead.

You should be thanking it as it has helped you stay alive and win a comp

I had a go at him because he's notorious for posting negative unnecessary crap to bring down any positive feeling about the game. Just getting reallly sick of it. Wouldn't be surprised if he/she is a Tele journo.

While I was hoping they'd win yesterday (due to my dislike of Manly), Melbourne's dynasty is one thing I actually am pleased to see coming to an end. Hopefully the comp becomes a little more even now...

Spot on timmah.

I had a top day yesterday, the manly fans around me were cheering the raiders on in the toyota cup and I returned the favour in the main game.

Well done manly and congrats, was deserved imo.

The party is still going.

Where in this thread are Manly fans whinging? Get your hand off it.

Confirmed. I haven't seen any Manly fans complain about this in this thread? I LOVE how people are seeing this as a Manly are whinging thread purely based on their hate for Manly, even though no Manly fans are complaining in here.

Yeah some Manly players will be poached but that's just the way the game is.

That's just the way she goes. That's why you have to take your chance at a premiership while you have it. If it wasn't for the salary cap Manly would not have been there yesterday, so I'm willing to take the good with the bad.

I'll never forget being at the game yesterday, centenary year premiers with a record winning margin against one of our most hated sides!! So when we hit a lean period in the future, I can always chuck on the 2008 grand final dvd and let these great memories come flooding back.

My mistake.
I assumed the thread starter was a Sea Eagles fan.
But it's only natural to start whinging when your team is torn apart by the salary cap.

There's no "poaching" under the cap. That's the whole point. It's balance. No rich club is going out there and exerting its power over the rest.

That's what I do with my Panthers 03 DVD. Always brings a smile to my face.
