Manly after Pearce

f**k me, we have been ordinary for years and our players have not been seen as marque players apart from marque ones we have purchased. We just lost Bell do not forget. Is it that hard to understand? How many players did the Panthers lose that they wanted to keep before their GF win? After their win their values naturally went up, as a result they then lost players. We have not had this happen yet. Although now it is not far away.

be serious now would Manly have offered Bell the same money he's on now??

Facts are that hinting at the fact Manly "might" cheat the cap is as dumb as saying Parra juniors to do respect the eels.

that's what I've been saying..but than again I think you're still assuming that I believe that your club is breaking the cap and it appears to be bothering you..:?

at the end of the day, does it really matter...

I don't know if Manly is rorting the cap
BUT
It is very suspect that they don't lose players they want to keep and they can still upgrade the contracts of all the players they want to keep AND still overpay for other new players (Tony Williams)

Every other team in the comp loses players they want to keep due to the salary cap (especially true once they need to upgrade contracts)

Now Manly have won the premiership and numerous of their players have been rewarded with rep honours, will Manly be able to keep all those players once their contracts come up?

The skeptic in me says absolutely they will. It has already started with the upgrading of Ballin's contract. David Williams contract needs to be upgraded and the list goes on ... I have feeling all those players they want to keep they will keep

and that's exactly what I'm saying..

geez i think I've started something here.

Like I said it is not bothing me, but feel like the debate. More so as I am meant to be doing an assignment, nice distraction.

Apparantly Bell wanted to stay but Manly could not make the offer due to upgrades and new signings. He was apparantly on a decent packet.

Since when did two players, Dave Williams and Heath L'Estrange, neither of whom your club wanted, constitute half a team?

That's what I've been trying to get through to you this whole time, now we have a bigger juniors area, we will inevitably produce more juniors in years to come.

Meanwhile, I'll enjoy supporting a well managed, successful club, while you enjoy supporting your westie club with terrible management and coaching staff, and a playing roster with probably the worst attitude in the whole comp.

Players from the Sunshine coast are not Manly juniors

unless you think Queensland is part of Manly :?

that's one of the most simplistic, dumb and ill informed comments I've ever read..

it's like saying that's not our fault that you break the sallary cap to win the comp...**oops, did i say that..sorry***

grow up..

So why are they not loyal to your club then? We have the same salary cap as you... Somehow we always seem to get the good ones? I don't think so. I think it has a lot more to do with training and hard work of the staff at Manly. It's easy for Parramatta to sit back and claim all the work because they were a Parramatta junior. But if that was 100% accurate, surely you should have built a premiership winning team by now with all that raw talent.

They leave because they know they will never win an NRL premiership at Parramatta. They leave because you can't lift them to the next level. And they don't just go to Manly. The talent is spread throughout the whole competition. Well, except at Parramatta anyway.

ok, so Manly didn't want Bell...that's not exactly a revelation given that you've seen the best of him.

Smart recruitment & retention. He did us a great service, but he is getting on and we need to bring in some younger players like Tony Williams plus some upgrades. Same with Monas, we cut him loose as he was apparantly on $250k, used the funds elswhere.

well, i've certainly hit a raw nerve with you

you know as sh*t as we are we still made the play offs 7 times in the last 10 years, which is actually not bad for a club no one wanted to play for..;-)

mate, the ole chest beating adage of "my club has a bigger dick than your club" doesn't interest me the slightest, I'll still support my club and will continue to do so.

you could be correct...;-)

that could be one of the reasons why imo you'll never never lose a player you want a keep in the future.

Why? You take players out of their home towns and move them to Parramatta schools. Why are they Parramatta juniors?

nio we don't, well not in all cases anyway, recent examples include Pat O'Hanlon, Albert Kelly and Daniel Mortimer who still went to school at their home towns while contracted to our club.

raw nerve? I'm quite happy. Manly's d*ck clearly is bigger than Parra's. Always has been. Plus the club knows how to use it better too.
