i think we need to clear up that if the RFL bid for it,seeing as the RFL is england's governing body then all the games should be in england..

if the WRL (wales) or FFR (france) can make it financally profitable for a round of group games to be held in those countries as part of the 2013 RLWC then i'd gladly welcome them aboard as joint hosts with the RFL...if not then england goes it alone..

it's still all about making money..lets not forget that

Isn't the RFL responsible for the game in the United Kingdom i.e. it overlaps with the Welsh board in some ways?

If in the Southern Hemisphere, it should be Aus/NZL, but if in the Northern Hemisphere it should be Eng/France

Personally I think it should be in England, as much I would like to see the WC back in Australia, I think its fair that would be played in the northern hemisphere.

With the 2000 World Cup I dont think there were enough games in strong Rugby League areas in England.

And at least in 2013, it wont be too close to any major sporting events. So every 4 years after 2013, 2017 and then 2021.

Hopefully by then we will be thinking about taking World Cup matches to other places outside Australia, England, France, NZL.

technically the RFL still overseas the whole game in the UK..even europe.....but if the likes of wales want to become a major force again they need the people behind the scene capable of stepping up and shouldering the responsiblity..i'd like them to put together a sub bid,if thats the right word, as part of englands (RFL) bid, ideally i'd like the RFL to tender out 1 of the 3 world cup groups to the best bidder whether that be wales, scotland, ireland or france...if it does'nt make financal sense to play games there then we should'nt give them games..

if that makes sense..

If i were in charge of putting together the UK/France bid I would be saying to the Welsh, Irish, FRench and Scottish governments/tourism boards/sporting bodies/stadium owners buy your games.

England bids for the world cup, then says to Scotland - hosting a pool match in Glasgow will cost you $X. You want two, maybe we can work a deal.

Sell the Frenchies their games.

This is what made a profit in Australia. The state governments realised that the Australian games would generate huge amounts of money and so were prepared to pay millions of dollars to get them. Part of this tournaments success what that we had pretty much covered the budget before a ball was kicked. We need to ensure that the tournament has a solid financial footing before it is underway.

If the countries dont purchase all the respective pool games then England's heartland areas get more to enjoy.
win win.

I'd like to see Down Under get it again because of the weather mainly. So many lessons have been learnt from 2000 and 2008, and the intervening years; and so much has changed in the administration of the game, in the NH at least, that now as a game we're basically well equipped to stage and run a WC that will be a boost to the game, not a hindrance as 2000.

I'd like to see NZ in a home group, and explore the possibility of a NZ based final (this would mean contriving the draw as much as possible to make NZ avoid the next best team in the world - ahh f**k it, it's Australia, I can't keep up the pretense any further in the name of honest posting! - in the semis. Surely NZ can fill a 40,000 seater.

As others have said the new TV deals will have been negotiated by then with int'l properties separate to domestic ones, so it will mean, not should mean, that RL gets a massive financial injection.

Happy days. NZ world champions!!!!! I can't believe it! (Well I can but you know what I mean).

I can't believe that everyone thinks the Super League is ordinary after Englands WC, let's remeber as soon as Australia had a SL referee they strugled.

England pushed NZ the world champions twice in 2 weeks and should have won the first match easily.

So what if they like to attack more than defend, it makes for a much better brand of football.

England's problems are severe. To not be able to come up with a centre pair better than Gleeson & Senior is ludicrous. I tell you why? They have people like Talau, Nero, Matt Gafa, Howell, Tony Martin and many others who can't cut the mustard in the NRL playing over there in the centres & blocking young english talent from coming through the ranks. England can't tackle and can't attack. What happened to that young fellow from Leeds? Why don;t they just target better players, acrioss the park rather than hiring old legs and 2nd raters?

If the sole purpose is to make money then it has to be held at venues in RL heartlands. If we wnat to use to spread the game we have to takes osme risks and play some games in new areas and take a financial hit at the gates. Clever scheduling should see decent crowds in Eng, Wales and France.
