Everytime you chant for the death of a Sydney club, you include Wests

You seem to be mistaking me for someone else. I don't want to see any club die, I want to see evry NRL club be drawing 20k+, playing out of world class RL stadia and with an income of 20mill so we can raise the salary cap. Do I think Sydney can sustain 9 teams that can do that? All the signs are no. does that mean I WANT to see someone die or relocate? No.

I have no wish or desire to support a failed Sydneyteam in Perth. I want to see a Perth team run by Perth people with Perth players playing in Prth. We tried the other way with blow in easterners thinking they knew best and upping sticks at the first chance to the next port of call and it fell on its ar5e.

Hope that clears your delusions up a little!

So you won't support the efforts of Souths or Saints? And, with over 1/3 of all premierships between them, they are failed teams?

The Western Reds were 'blow in easterners'?

ha ha, it will take 10 years for Gallop to wake up to RL in the West!
Well, you had better get a rocket up whoever is your publicity manager, because if he/she can't get their existence known to those inside the code, they have no hope of exposing their presence to those outside the code.

Souths are coming first in corporate sponserships, Members and Ticketed members.

Once they start winning more games, more cashflow will come

Once the leagues club gets built, more cashflow will come

And our membership is growing each year, Plus Russell will never let them go broke, regardless of what he says, he would never let them go broke.

So i dunno why people think they will go broke, i don't see the logic. We have had our fair share of losses, but 2006 wasnt THAT long ago.. and things are only improving

I'm talking about a permenantly relocated team as you well know

The Western Reds were 'blow in easterners'?

Yep most of the Western Reds were people from the Eastern states. Players, coaches, management etc. They all jumped ship and headed to Melbourne. So yes blow ins!

There's a shed load of difference being telling someone something and them listening! For example, the NRL manger comes to perth and talks up our bid and the Reds concept. Two weeks later Gallop comes out in the media that he can't see expansion in Perth for the foreseeable future. You'd think they would be singing from the same hymn sheet!

Not having a go at you, but it's pretty sad if Souths in absolute dire times would need to rely on a celeberity to bail them out. You guys are going in the right direction with the membership push, but really this sort of thinking should have been implemented years ago.

That may be true but how innovative have clubs been in the past when it comes to this sort of thing. not very. theres less shame in being bailed out by a movie star than there is in folding and becoming defunct.

if it takes a movie star to open up some new ideas and push a club in the right direction then that can only be a good thing.

You seem to forget that in 2002 Manly (or should I say Northern Eagles) were broke and about to close their doors before Delmege gave them $800K to save them from the receivers and he's given them millions since. They wouldn't be here today without him and look where they are now.

Similarly, Russell Crowe rescued Souths in 2006 and we are heading in the same direction as Manly, but Rusty's contribution isn't just dollars, it's his high profile "pulling power" with sponsors, celebrities etc that has continued to build the South Sydney Rabbitohs "brand" into one of the most recognised sporting brands, not only in Australia but around the world. With all that comes increased merchandise sales, memberships and major sponsors who are keen to be associated with such a high profile sporting brand as Souths.

People who are predicting that Souths will go broke, don't have the slightest idea about what's been going on at the club and its future plans. Our owners and members have ensured that Souths are now the "real deal" and are here to stay. I don't want any clubs to go broke, but Souths are one of the Sydney clubs that are least likely to.

I totally understand what Crowe has brought to the table for Souths, what I am saying is that things shouldn't have gotten that dire to begin with.

What innovative ideas has he come up with??? I dont follow souths all that closely, but from what i gathered the new regime there wanted an upgraded training facility.......wow, who would have guessed that was needed, considering they had the worst facilities in the league..........

Getting rid of poker machines, well seeing as though the poker machine tax and smoking ban being well known for at least 4-5 years prior, again that is really nothing innovative.

I cant really remember anything really susbatantial that he has done, but I am sure the Souths fans will be able to name a few things on here that he has done.

IMO his celebrity status and own $$$$ is the only thing he has brought to the club. Which is not a bad thing at all as you say, but let's be honest, he hopefully should never have to bail them out of dire straits again.

What you say is true beave, but it doesn't only apply to Souths.

What most Souths supporters would concede is we were in worse shape than everyone else.

That's what happens when a club in run into the ground by atrocious administration.

Fixing that has been one of the biggest tasks and we are pretty much there, all that is needed now are nothing short of top 8 performances from the players - there can be no more excuses.

Published in the Sunday Telegraph today (no online source sorry):
RABBITOHS CHARITY

Souths' millionaire owners Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court continue to tighten the belt at the Bunnies. In their latest cost-cutting measure, they have asked several support staff to work for nothing this season. Most have agreed to the pay cuts, but we can't help thinking what Rusty would say if he was asked to shoot his next movie for nothing."

You can say what you will about rising membership and sponsorship levels, but a club that records a $9m+ loss over the past two years is living on borrowed time. With Crowe and PHaC both coming out this year saying they are done with chipping in additional money, what happens this year is another multi-million dollar loss is recorded?

Where did you get those bullsh*t figures from? There's been media reports that Souths were supposedly going to lose 4.5 -5 mill this financial year and Shane Richardson has already publicly stated that it's absolute nonsense. Having said that, with all the money that been poured into the club over the last couple of years what do you expect... we were starting from scratch.

Delmege said the same thing about Manly... is he going to continue propping them up forever? Souths financial ship is now sailing calmer waters, not sinking as most people (other than Souths supporters) would like to think.

As for that "story", it was tucked away in the bottom right hand corner of page 59 and is typical tellucrap anti-Souths propaganda.

As usual, no sources quoted, no details and no proof to back up their claims. Which support staff are they talking about.... ball boys, cleaners? How many is several... is it 3 or 23? How many is most... 51% or 99%?

Many volunteer Souths supporters do a lot of work for the club for nothing... it's hardly a new concept. Also, Rusty already works for South's for nothing, so what more do they want from him?

Bloody tellucrap wankers!
