Nope, I didn't want to talk to that rag so I wouldn't put my head anywhere near hers.

What do you know about the Pokie Tax and smoking rules that he (DF) doesn't?

jacksh*t, but I'm not running for his job

Who says the Club WON'T be broke in 5 years?

I'd rather have some one who can be in control, rather than a pessimist. Haven't heard this doom and gloom fro any other CEO

Who thought the Bank of Scotland would be broke, and the big Yank Banks?
What excuses has Denis made..except for the poor performance of players..

in case you weren't aware, he's said the club is struggling financially and he blames the pokie tax and the new smoking regulations, like other clubs dont have similar problems, yet they are not predicting failure in the next 5 years

It amazes me that the CEO is the one to cop the blame for poor on field performances.

who blamed Fitzy for our on field failures ?

It's like saying "Gees Frank Facer must have been shocking as a CEO if Jack Gibson couldn't win a title with St George"
I prefer my people (ie - those in the know) to tell it like it is..cut the bullsh*t and get to the chase.

I prefer some one who gets on with his job and doesn't make excuses

So was he wrong in that regard? I admire people who tell it like it is..Don't you?

Don't tell them that Dave..They'll be moving me out just when I'm trying to get into a new clique`. I'm working on it, could end up a blood bath...

I would have thought that with your inside runnings these days that you might be switching camps. Sounds like you want to be part of the 'clique', but just can't openly admit it. ;-)

How much money has the club spent (wasted) over the last 12 months or so, catering for pokie patrons in order to pay more tax???
The more you make. the more tax you pay. Can they stop using this excuse, as someone mentioned earlier other clubs havent dwelled on it as much as Parra Leagues!

Bottom line is that any CEO candidate would be a candidate for a job vacancy (if/when it exists) that should be properly advertised, and they should need to be judged on merit through a robust recruitment process. We did it for our FG coach just recently, surely it would work that way for teh CEO?

I would be very surprised if that was not the way it worked - in fact surprised wouldn't be the word... I would be shocked and consider cancelling my Leagues Club membership.

Yep, as I said on Friday. It would be dodgy if both CEO positions did not go to the market to seek the best of the best.

thing is (i'm pretty sure) the tax is relative to how much the club take out not the number of machines on the floor. the machines should be making a profit unless the tax is 100%. they are an important part of the club's income stream but from what i remember on saturday, ovo said their was a law that we couldn't put more machines in the club.

on saturday part of the discussion was about how other clubs in the surrounding areas were hives of activity. apart from perpetual membership i think our club charged about $20ish a year (can someone please confirm?). i am curious to know what other busier clubs in surrounding areas are charging on an anual membership by comparison and what they get in return (ie. access to multiple clubs, etc...) for their fee.

its hard to know the numbers on such things unless you actually sit down and do the sums .... its all good to come up with ideas to do this and that, but they have to be financially viable .... I mean we all talk about putting in some good places to eat/drink - but in reality, even after pokie tax - 1 person who comes in and spends $30 on a meal and drinks might not make the club as much money as 1 person who comes in sits on one stool and pours $150 into a pokie

Yep it's pretty clear that a few band aid solutions won't generate the coin that we need to balance the books. Aside from the LC becoming more profitable, the FC need to be able to become more self sufficient.

Interesting to see that the Perth S14 side Western Force got 25,000 to a trial match last week and they have almost those numbers in season ticket holders. As I have said on many occasions, going to NRL matches in Sydney is not "cool", whereas going to see the Tahs or Swans is. We need to do something about the match day experience and that goes beyond a winning team.
